{"id":985,"date":"2007-07-22T23:21:55","date_gmt":"2007-07-23T04:21:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=985"},"modified":"2007-07-22T23:21:55","modified_gmt":"2007-07-23T04:21:55","slug":"jetnationcom-off-season-top-ten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2007\/07\/22\/jetnationcom-off-season-top-ten\/","title":{"rendered":"Jetnation.com Off-Season Top Ten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" width=\"173\" src=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/graphics\/Articles\/headers\/top10.gif\" height=\"115\" style=\"width: 173px; height: 115px\" \/>By Nick Ferraro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00c2\u00a0 San Diego Chargers<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nI hate not placing the defending champs in the top spot, but they have lost too many pieces and are not the same team.\u00c2\u00a0 The Chargers will enter the season with an industrial-sized chip on their shoulders after the early exit from the playoffs.\u00c2\u00a0 The scariest thing about the Bolts is that Rivers is going to improve from last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00c2\u00a0 New England Patriots<br \/>\n<\/strong>Whether Moss is good or not, this is a top-three team.\u00c2\u00a0 Granted they gave up almost <!--more-->nothing to take the gamble on him, I think it will end badly.\u00c2\u00a0 It always ends badly with Randy.\u00c2\u00a0 After two years of half-hearted play, can the now 30-year-old Moss turn it back on assuming that he even wants to?\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>3.\u00c2\u00a0 Indianapolis Colts<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Colts slide because of the talent defections on defense, and today there is a report that Tarik Glenn is retiring.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard to understand the draft they had given their needs on defense.\u00c2\u00a0 How do the Colts take a receiver in round one?\u00c2\u00a0 They need help at every single defensive spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00c2\u00a0 Baltimore Ravens<\/strong><br \/>\nThe upgrade to McGahee at RB is a plus for the Ravens.\u00c2\u00a0 Their offensive line is a question; although, Ben Grubbs was a nice pick in round one.\u00c2\u00a0 How much does McNair have left in his tank, and who gets open for him are their biggest concerns.\u00c2\u00a0 There still seems to be too little firepower to get the Ravens deep into January.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00c2\u00a0 Chicago Bears<\/strong><br \/>\nThey will likely win their division easily again, but there are no guarantees after that for the Bears.\u00c2\u00a0 Cedric Benson will get his chance to prove he was worth a number-one pick. He better; there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not much behind him.\u00c2\u00a0 Rex has to improve. The team did nothing to address the QB position.\u00c2\u00a0 If Briggs doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t play, they will feel it on defense.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. New Orleans Saints<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Saints will build on last year and will likely close the gap on Chicago.\u00c2\u00a0 The secondary needs to improve to take the next step.\u00c2\u00a0 Firepower isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t an issue even with cutting Joe Horn free.\u00c2\u00a0 I still don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t see them winning a road playoff game in Chicago, and with the tough divisional games they have, home field will be hard to secure.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>7. Denver Broncos<\/strong><br \/>\nDenver solidified the RB situation with Travis Henry who is a perfect fit for their system.\u00c2\u00a0 His acquisition didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t grab the headlines, but his production should make up for it. Their season will balance on the play of 2nd-year quarterback Jay Cutler.\u00c2\u00a0 The starts he had last season should pay dividends for Denver this year.\u00c2\u00a0 He can make all the throws and should play well for the Broncos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. New York Jets<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Jets were a surprise playoff team last year under rookie head coach Eric Mangini.\u00c2\u00a0 They notched 10 wins and reached the playoffs after a four-win season in 2005.\u00c2\u00a0 The Jets made the most of their schedule last year.\u00c2\u00a0 This season they will need to do better than just one win against playoff teams.\u00c2\u00a0 They have upgraded their talent level at key positions, but it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard to imagine them doing better than their win total of last year against stiffer competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Philadelphia Eagles<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Eagles got something last year that their fans had always dreamed about: a healthy season from Michael Westbrook.\u00c2\u00a0 His monster year paced the team even after McNabb went down in week eleven.\u00c2\u00a0 Eagle fans are dreaming again:\u00c2\u00a0 this time of Westbrook and McNabb for a full sixteen \u00e2\u20ac\u201c game slate.\u00c2\u00a0 If their dreams come true again, it could mean a long run into January in Philly.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.
