{"id":9388,"date":"2011-09-29T07:23:22","date_gmt":"2011-09-29T11:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=9388"},"modified":"2011-09-29T07:23:22","modified_gmt":"2011-09-29T11:23:22","slug":"new-york-jets-news-and-notes-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2011\/09\/29\/new-york-jets-news-and-notes-34\/","title":{"rendered":"New York Jets News And Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cro remains questionable, Wilson to start?<\/strong> According to New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan, Antonio Cromartie remains questionable for Sunday and second year defensive Kyle Wilson will start if AC can&#8217;t play.\u00a0 Wilson has played much better in his second season with Gang Green and there is a chance Donald Strickland would see some reps at the corner spot as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mangold&#8217;s status remains uncertain-<\/strong> As of now Nick Mangold&#8217;s status for Sunday remains uncertain.\u00a0 When asked if Nick must practice in order to play against the Ravens, Rex Ryan offered the following:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;You\u2019d like to see him get a little more time, but again, you\u2019re right.  That\u2019s Nick Mangold, and I\u2019m not a guy that says you have to practice to play.  If he has all the mental things, he\u2019s getting better and all that, and we feel he can go, then we\u2019ll do that.  I\u2019d like to at least feel comfortable myself to see what he can do.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On if he would be comfortable with Mangold playing at less than 100 percent\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;No, I\u2019d want a 100 percent, and that\u2019d be a heck of a battle right there, letting those two guys butt heads, because one\u2019s the best tackle in football, one\u2019s the best center in football. So, that would be a great matchup. When you look at Nick at 70 percent, he\u2019s still the best center in football. We\u2019ll see. I hope he gets closer to 90 percent than 70 percent&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While I know the Jets would love to have Mangold back to face All-Pro Haloti Ngata, I just cannot see it happening this weekend.\u00a0 The NFL season is a marathon not a sprint and I think the Jets take it slow with Nick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maybin signed, Westerman struggling? <\/strong>The New York Jets re-signed linebacker Aaron Maybin to the active roster.\u00a0 The former first round pick for the Buffalo Bills had 3 sacks this preseason before being cut by the Jets.\u00a0 Maybin could add some explosiveness to the Jets pass rush, something that &#8220;designated pass rusher&#8221; Jamaal Westerman was supposed to bring to the table (0 sacks through 3 games).\u00a0\u00a0 When asked about Westerman&#8217;s performance thus far Rex Ryan commented: <em>&#8220;He\u2019s been okay. He hasn\u2019t been great, but he\u2019s done a decent job.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jets announce 4 new players to be enshrined into &#8220;Ring of Honor&#8221;-<\/strong><em> <\/em>On Wednesday the New York Jets announced that Freeman McNeil, Gerry Philbin, Al Toon, and Larry Grantham will be inducted into the team&#8217;s &#8220;Ring of Honor&#8221; on Monday, October 17th.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 These four Jets legends will join Curtis Martin, Don Maynard, Winston Hill, Joe Namath, and Weeb Ewbank who were inducted in 2010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cro remains questionable, Wilson to start?
