On if he knew the Jets would trade up for him\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/strong>
\nI had no idea. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m just thankful to have the opportunity. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m thankful to come in and compete for the team. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m grateful.<\/p>\n

On the opportunity to play along side Jonathan Vilma\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>They have great linebackers, a great defense, and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m just going to try to go in and compete.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not really worried about who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in front of me or behind me. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m pretty sure the coaches will put me in when they feel I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m ready, and I just want to go in and compete.<\/p>\n

On the 3-4 defense\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>The defense changes from week-to-week depending on what you want to do that week and the opponent. I played a 3-4 my sophomore year here at Michigan.<\/p>\n

On playing inside linebacker\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>Everybody has different concepts and it varies from week-to-week and some of the new game plans. You never know.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On Victor Hobson\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/strong>
\nHe was a fifth-year senior my redshirt year. He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a great player. He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a leader and I talked to him a lot about when I was training in New Jersey and I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wait to get started.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On Linebackers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Coach Jim Herrmann\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>I have a great relationship with him. He was my D-coordinator at Michigan all four years and he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s always been a great person to talk to, a great coach.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On meeting with the Jets\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>I met them down at the combine.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On who he spoke with there\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/strong>
\nI spoke to almost everybody on their staff.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On his strengths as a player\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6.
\n<\/strong>I think I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m a well-rounded person, a well-rounded athlete. I will try to come in, work on myself overall with everything and try to compete on the NFL level.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On knowing if the Jets would pick him\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>You never know at the draft if an NFL team will call you and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m thankful that the New York Jets called me.\u00c2<\/p>\n

On talk that teams were considering him late in the first round\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
\n<\/strong>You can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t listen to what they say. Hopefully they like the way you play and you can help contribute and you can help them win. The Jets gave me the opportunity.\u00c2<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
