Bryan, Novak waived-<\/strong> On Tuesday the New York Jets announced that the team has waived punter Chris Bryan and kicker Nick Novak.\u00a0 Following this announcement head coach Rex Ryan confirmed that Nick Folk will be the team’s starting kicker, and that T.J. Conley will be the starting punter. I have no problem with the team’s decision to go with Folk at kicker, but Conley remains a concern.\u00a0 The new kickoff rules are going to put a bigger emphasis on field position and I would feel more comfortable with a veteran punter.\u00a0 (Note: The team also announced that they waived WR Courtney Smith)<\/p>\n

Conner injured-<\/strong> On Monday night New York Jets starting fullback John Conner hurt his left ankle.\u00a0 Rex Ryan offered the following on the injury:<\/p>\n

“John, we\u2019ll see how he is. I\u2019m hopeful that he\u2019ll be ready. He\u2019s an awful tough kid, I would assume that he would be ready.”<\/em><\/p>\n

On if he would reach out to Tony Richardson if Connor cannot play\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yes, but I feel good though with John. It\u2019s not like his ankle is broken or anything, so I feel good that he\u2019s going to get through it. But clearly if you\u2019re down in the season and things like that and something unfortunately would happen to John, then absolutely, Tony would be an ideal guy for the simple fact that he knows our system and Tony is a great football player and a great teammate. So certainly that would be the guy that I would be interested in if we did have to replace John or something happened to John. But right now, it\u2019s not even close to that. This is just a left ankle sprain or something like that. I\u2019m not a doctor, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be that big of a deal.”<\/em><\/p>\n
