On Monday the New York Jets latest addition wide receiver Plaxico Burress addressed the media.\u00a0 Here is the transcript courtesy of the Jets.<\/p>\n
On what he\u2019s been doing to get back into football shape\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n “I\u2019ve been in South Florida, throwing and running around with some of the quarterbacks that are starting quarterbacks in this business right here and doing one-on-one drills against different defensive backs that play in this league who are starters. Just running my routes and catching the ball, it feels like I\u2019ve never left. I do expect some rust at some point. I feel great, I\u2019m healthy, which I haven\u2019t been in a long, long time and I think that\u2019s going to be the difference for me getting back to get where I want to be real fast.”<\/p>\n On if he received better offers in free agency and why he chose the Jets\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n “I did. Like I said, this is a beautiful situation, you look at what these guys have here. They\u2019re building a great football team, (have) a great coach, somebody who you\u2019d love to play for in Rex Ryan. Woody Johnson is a wonderful owner and he\u2019s running this organization first class, top shelf. They\u2019ve been supportive with me. Just having the opportunity to come here and come play and to be where I am at this stage in my life, just to live up the street from here, it was just a beautiful situation.”<\/p>\n On how he knew about coach Ryan without actually meeting with him\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n “I\u2019ve talked to different players, obviously that\u2019s what you would do when you make a decision like that. Then you see his personality, he supports his players like I\u2019ve never seen from a coaching standpoint. And his players respect him, they go out and play hard for him and as a player you don\u2019t want anything more from a head coach than for him to show you the ultimate respect as a person and as a player and to give him that back by going out and playing hard and performing well.”<\/p>\n On showing his respect for the coaching staff and team\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n “This right here, it\u2019s a relaxed atmosphere. We\u2019re going to play hard, we\u2019re going to play fast, we\u2019re going to play with a lot of confidence and we\u2019re going to win games. There\u2019s a great group of guys around here, I just come in and blend right in. To be here and play with some of the guys that I\u2019m surrounded with, playing with a first ballot hall of famer in LaDainian Tomlinson, I have a great quarterback in Mark and I have a great deal of respect for (Jerricho) Cotchery, the things that he\u2019s been able to accomplish over the years\u2014being consistent and underrated ever since I can remember and playing with Santonio (Holmes), who is a Super Bowl champion.
