{"id":8042,"date":"2011-05-17T09:50:33","date_gmt":"2011-05-17T13:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=8042"},"modified":"2019-11-28T05:58:44","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T09:58:44","slug":"8th-court-of-appeals-grants-the-nfls-motion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2011\/05\/17\/8th-court-of-appeals-grants-the-nfls-motion\/","title":{"rendered":"8th Court of Appeals Grants the NFL&#8217;s motion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are a fan of the NFL lockout, the news just got better.\u00a0 For everyone else, the news is not good.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/theredzone.org\/BlogDescription\/tabid\/61\/EntryId\/17100\/8th-Court-of-Appeals-has-granted-the-NFL-s-motion-for-a-stay\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Red Zone.org<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The 8th circuit Court of Appeals has granted the\u00a0NFL&#8217;s motion for  a\u00a0stay on the\u00a0appeal\u00a0 which means until at least the first week of June  and possibly much longer according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/news\/story?id=6557162\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 2-1 decision\u00a0similar to\u00a0the\u00a0decision last month from the same judges, including a lengthy dissent from the same judge.<\/p>\n<p>The appellate court said it believed the NFL has proven it &#8220;likely will  suffer some degree of irreparable harm without a stay.&#8221; It also cast  doubt on the conclusions of U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson,  who ruled April 25 that the lockout should be lifted &#8212; only to have the  8th Circuit panel put her decision on hold four days later.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In sum, we have serious doubts that the district court had  jurisdiction to enjoin the league&#8217;s lockout, and accordingly conclude  that the league has made a strong showing that it is likely to succeed  on the merits,&#8221; the majority wrote.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Football fans are past tired of this lockout and are discussing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/\">NFL forum<\/a> on JetNation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are a fan of the NFL lockout, the news just got better.\u00a0 For everyone else, the news is not good.
