As the Jets prepare to take on the Raiders, the age old question remains.\u00c2\u00a0 Are these the same old Jets?\u00c2\u00a0 Historically speaking December has not been kind to the Jets.\u00c2\u00a0 Yet coming off back to back victories they find themselves controlling their own playoff destiny.\u00c2\u00a0 Win and they are in.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
On paper this looks like an easy game for the Jets.\u00c2\u00a0 They are at home and are relatively healthy (Dyson is doubtful, Coles will play).\u00c2\u00a0 The Raiders will be without Randy Moss, Lamont Jordan and Jerry Porter.\u00c2\u00a0 QB Aaron Brooks is banged up, as is Robert Gallery but both will play.\u00c2\u00a0 Will it matter?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 With a loss the Raiders could lock up the # 1 draft pick.\u00c2\u00a0 We all know how Al Davis likes the spotlight.\u00c2\u00a0 The odds makers like the Jets chances, making them 12.5 point favorites.\u00c2\u00a0 None of that matters though, since they do not play these games on paper.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nThe Jets only had one penalty last weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 They need to continue playing smart football and keep this simple.\u00c2\u00a0 No need to over think things.\u00c2\u00a0 Run the ball, set Chad up for some play action and do not turn the ball over.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 They should run early and often.\u00c2\u00a0 Cedric Houston and Leon Washington will\u00c2\u00a0 get plenty of chances to show what they can do.\u00c2\u00a0 If the Jets can not run the ball and control the clock, things will get interesting.\u00c2\u00a0 Oakland’s pass defense is good.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Expect plenty of penalties.\u00c2\u00a0 It is what the Raiders do best.\u00c2\u00a0 Aaron Brooks has been inconsistent this season and all his best weapons are sitting this one out.\u00c2\u00a0 The Raiders will try to run the ball but they wont have much success.\u00c2\u00a0 Brooks will test the Jets secondary with Dyson sitting this one out.\u00c2\u00a0 If they can move the ball through the air, they can make a game of this.<\/p>\n
\nLaveranues Coles vs. Eric Mangini.\u00c2\u00a0 If the Jets win, does Coles show his love for the coach by showering him with the gatorade cooler?\u00c2\u00a0 This is the only matchup that is worth watching.<\/p>\n
\nThese are not the same old Jets.\u00c2\u00a0 Jets 24 – Raiders 10<\/p>\n
\n-With a win Eric Mangini will become only the 2nd Head Coach in NY Jets history to make the playoffs in his first season.
\n-Jerricho Cotchery needs 92 yards to reach 1,000 for the season.\u00c2\u00a0 It would his first 1,000 yard season.\u00c2\u00a0
\n-Laveranues Coles has already surpassed 1,000 yards this year.\u00c2\u00a0 Can you name the last time the Jets had two 1,000 yard receivers in the same season?
