{"id":7819,"date":"2011-04-10T08:02:15","date_gmt":"2011-04-10T12:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=7819"},"modified":"2011-04-10T08:02:15","modified_gmt":"2011-04-10T12:02:15","slug":"santonio-holmes-discusses-future-with-the-jets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2011\/04\/10\/santonio-holmes-discusses-future-with-the-jets\/","title":{"rendered":"Santonio Holmes Discusses Future With The Jets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes addressed a couple members of the media prior to an autograph signing in Somerset, New Jersey.\u00a0 The talented receiver offered up several interesting quotes that are sure to ruffle the feathers of Jets fans.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few of Santonio&#8217;s quotes as reported by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/blogs\/jets\/2011\/04\/santonio-holmes-to-take-wait-and-see-approach-on-his-future-with-jets\">Manish Mehta<\/a> of the NY Daily News.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m a free agent this year. Whatever my agent brings to the table \u2013 the best deal for me \u2013 I\u2019m pretty sure that\u2019s where we\u2019ll end up. I would love (to play for the Jets). But whatever happens, happens. I don\u2019t know. I\u2019ve never been in this situation before. I really don\u2019t know how to explain it to anybody. Whatever happens\u2026 I\u2019m happy to be wherever I end up at.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cA business move was made to send me to New York in the last year of my deal in Pittsburgh. I don\u2019t know what the odds of me staying a Jet (are) or moving on.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On signing his RFA tender.. <em>\u201cI probably wouldn\u2019t sign it. Because I played five years to wait for my contract to come up in my sixth year. And that\u2019s what I want. I don\u2019t want to sign for a one-year deal. I don\u2019t want to play anywhere for one year\u2026. I wouldn\u2019t do it. I want a contract &#8212; flat out. If I sign a contract, it\u2019s going to be for multiple years. It won\u2019t be for one year.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Santonio also went on to add that he will not be attending Mark Sanchez&#8217; passing camp in May due to personal reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing like keeping it real Santonio. For negotiating purposes one would think that he would have at least thrown out a &#8220;I love playing with Sanchez&#8221;, or &#8220;I love playing for Rex Ryan&#8221; quote to at least dispel the notion that he is looking for the highest offer.<\/p>\n<p>While I appreciate everything that Santonio Holmes brought to the Jets in 2010, I still believe Gang Green should only bring him back at the right price.\u00a0 If Holmes is looking to break the bank, which appears to be the case, I would explore trading him (if he is deemed a restricted free agent), or allow him to chase the best offer.<\/p>\n<p>I still contend that wide receiver Braylon Edwards is a better fit for the Jets, but that is a story for another day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes addressed a couple members of the media prior to an autograph signing in Somerset, New Jersey.\u00a0 The talented receiver offered up several interesting quotes that are sure to ruffle the feathers of Jets fans.
