{"id":77859,"date":"2025-04-27T13:11:18","date_gmt":"2025-04-27T17:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=77859"},"modified":"2025-04-27T13:11:18","modified_gmt":"2025-04-27T17:11:18","slug":"jets-take-some-gambles-with-25-class-grading-the-25-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2025\/04\/27\/jets-take-some-gambles-with-25-class-grading-the-25-draft\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets Take Some Gambles With &#8217;25 Class; Grading the &#8217;25 Draft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It feels like we have to preface every Jets draft grade with the same reminder; These grades are not a prediction as to how a player&#8217;s career will turn out from this point on.\u00a0 They are one person&#8217;s opinion not only on the players, but also on whether or not the approach to making the pick makes sense.<\/p>\n<p>And also, it&#8217;s not that serious.\u00a0 So if you have somebody in your life who gets triggered over draft grades, maybe find some better friends.<\/p>\n<p>So with that in mind&#8230;a review and grade for the Jets 2025 draft class.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Grading the Jets Draft, a Look at the UDFA&#039;s and What in the World is Going on With Jordan Travis?\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R0pZQJoZgoI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>For the podcast version, just click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spreaker.com\/episode\/grading-the-jets-draft-a-look-at-the-udfa-s-and-what-in-the-world-is-going-on-with-jordan-travis--65767766\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RT Armand Membou (Round 1, Pick 7):\u00a0<\/strong>You&#8217;d have to be crazy not to like this pick.\u00a0 Membou is an absolute monster at right tackle who dominated the SEC for several years.\u00a0 He has elite athleticism and has been plenty durable during his time at Mizzou.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade: A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>TE Mason Taylor (Round 2, 42 overall):\u00a0<\/strong>The cupboard is bare at 1 Jets Drive and Taylor gives Gang Green a potential high end pass catcher at tight end that they&#8217;ve been lacking for what feels like forever.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade: B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CB Azareye&#8217;h Thomas (Round 3, 73rd overall): <\/strong>A long, tall corner who is a nightmare in press, Thomas has the potential to be an elite player, but using the 73rd pick on a backup is something you do when you&#8217;re a team ready to win now.\u00a0 The Jets aren&#8217;t ready to win any time soon, and there&#8217;s a chance Thomas sits for a while while the Jets have plenty of other holes that need to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade: C-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WR Arian Smith (Round 4, 100th overall):\u00a0<\/strong>An absolute blazer at wide receiver, Smith looks like a jackrabbit at the snap and if you don&#8217;t get a hand on him, he&#8217;s going to get open.\u00a0 Wide open.\u00a0 But the speed demon did have thirteen career drops in college go to along with a long list of injuries.\u00a0 He&#8217;s a huge gamble this early on and was projected by some to be a priority undrafted free agent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade: D<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>S Malachi Moore (Round 4, 130th overall):\u00a0<\/strong>A very good all-around player out of Alabama, Moore has a chance to solidify the Jets safety spot which is something that has been sorely missed for some time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade: B+<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>LB Francisco Mauigoa (Round 5, 162nd overall0:\u00a0<\/strong>Mauigoa has solid athleticism for his size but will make his money as a thumper on defense and special teams.\u00a0 He&#8217;s more of the &#8220;traditional&#8221; linebacker that Aaron Glenn covets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade: C+<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WSUCougarFB?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WSUCougarFB<\/a> defense is so much fun to watch.  Mentioned Henley earlier, but Brenan Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade and Ron Stone are also good players.
