{"id":776,"date":"2006-12-16T14:48:08","date_gmt":"2006-12-16T19:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=776"},"modified":"2006-12-16T14:48:08","modified_gmt":"2006-12-16T19:48:08","slug":"week-15-preview-new-york-jets-at-minnesota-vikings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2006\/12\/16\/week-15-preview-new-york-jets-at-minnesota-vikings\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 15 Preview: New York Jets at Minnesota Vikings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/graphics\/Articles\/headers\/game-preview.gif\" align=\"right\" \/>By Tom Kiss<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nWell, as Jet fans, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve all seen this movie before.\u00c2\u00a0 Playoffs in reach, a winnable home game versus the Buffalo Bills, and of course the week long swagger in the Jets fans minds (including mine if you saw last weeks).\u00c2\u00a0 Of course the Jets would lose to the Bills in a big December game, they almost always do.\u00c2\u00a0 The biggest problem now is that this week\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s game against the Vikings was the scariest of the Jets final four games.\u00c2\u00a0 At 6-7 the Minnesota Vikings have the opportunity to set the record for the most proficient run defense.\u00c2\u00a0 That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s right, the Vikings have defense, at least on the ground.\u00c2\u00a0 This fact is why this will be the <!--more-->toughest game of the Jets season.\u00c2\u00a0 In the collective mind of most Jet fans this should be a win.\u00c2\u00a0 However, a look deeper shows that this will be a very difficult game to take control of.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong><u>When the Jets have the ball:<\/u><\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>The Jets will try to get a running game going but to no avail.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m sorry but there is no way that the Jets group of running backs are going to be the ones to take this Viking defense of its incredible streak.\u00c2\u00a0 Kevin and Pat Williams, no relation by blood, only relation by size and position.\u00c2\u00a0 These two run stuffers are the main reason why the Vikings have the best run defense in the game.\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nWith no running game the Jets will be forced to go to the air.\u00c2\u00a0 Early on you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll see Pennington have some success, probably hooking up with four or five different receivers into half time.\u00c2\u00a0 As good as the Vikes run defense is, their pass defense ranks 28<sup>th<\/sup> in the league while giving up almost 230 passing yards a game.\u00c2\u00a0 After the half the Vikings will adjust and look for the pass.\u00c2\u00a0 It is here that the game will be decided.\u00c2\u00a0 Can Chad win the game with only his arm?\u00c2\u00a0 I say no.\u00c2\u00a0 Not because I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a good QB, but mainly because I just don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know if he can win without a running game as often as he did early on this season.\u00c2\u00a0 Chad will probably have a good day, but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t expect Chad to carry the Jets to victory this week.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong><u>When the Vikings have the ball<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Much like their defense, the Vikings run better than pass, though they are middle of the road passing as opposed to near the bottom of the league.\u00c2\u00a0 Chester Taylor has been nursing the injuries coming from his first season as a full time starter, but expect to see him out there.\u00c2\u00a0 He will be the focus of Vilma, Rhodes and the rest of the Jets defense as the Jets like their chances against Brad Johnson.\u00c2\u00a0 First year head coach Brad Childress has shown a lot of confidence in Taylor as he has begun to build his offense around him this year.\u00c2\u00a0 In the five games that the Vikings won with Taylor as the starter, he averaged 125.8 yards a game, in the losses he averaged 67 yards.\u00c2\u00a0 SO, as Taylor goes, the Vikings go.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nBrad Johnson is done.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s obvious that Johnson can no longer compete in this week, and if not for a shoulder injury former Jet Brooks \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bollywood\u00e2\u20ac?
