It appears that March Madness has carried over to the video game business as EA Sports is running an online “tournament”<\/a> to determine the next cover athlete\u00a0 for “Madden NFL 12.”\u00a0\u00a0 Here is how it works:<\/p>\n

32 NFL Players have been ranked and put into 2 brackets, similar to the format used for the NCAA tournament.\u00a0 Fans will then vote<\/a> for their favorite players, with the champion appearing on the cover of “Madden NFL 12.”<\/p>\n

While this is a very clever idea, being on the cover of Madden is not exactly a blessing as there is the infamous “Madden Curse.”\u00a0 Several superstar players including the likes of Mike Vick, Donovan McNabb, and Ray Lewis have suffered misfortune after gracing the cover of the popular video game.\u00a0 So with that being said, I ask all of Jets nation to not vote for Mark Sanchez, who was ranked 5th in a bracket.\u00a0 While I agree it would be great to support Sanchez and “reverse the curse”, my cynical side from years of Jets disappointments just wants to avoid the situation altogether.<\/p>\n
