{"id":7635,"date":"2011-03-11T22:00:29","date_gmt":"2011-03-12T02:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=7635"},"modified":"2011-03-11T22:00:29","modified_gmt":"2011-03-12T02:00:29","slug":"the-nfl-labor-plot-thickens-players-decertify-union","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2011\/03\/11\/the-nfl-labor-plot-thickens-players-decertify-union\/","title":{"rendered":"The NFL Labor Plot Thickens; Players Decertify Union"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was the deadline for the latest contract extension and a new deal was not reached.\u00a0 According to ESPN.com:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>NFL labor talks broke down just hours before the latest contract extension expired Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The union decertified, and players including Tom Brady and Peyton Manning sued the league, putting the country&#8217;s most popular sport on a path to its first work stoppage since 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Despite  16 days of negotiations with a federal mediator &#8212; and previous months  of stop-and-start bargaining &#8212; the sides could not agree on a new deal.
