Joe Douglas and Brian Gutekunst Address Rodgers Rumors at Owners Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jets GM <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2023\/03\/27\/nfl-insiders-in-hurry-to-show-just-how-little-they-know-about-jets-and-joe-douglas\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Joe Douglas<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and Packers GM Brian Gutenkunst knew what was coming.\u00a0 Attending the annual owners meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, each would be bombarded with questions from the media regarding what looks to be an inevitable trade between the two clubs.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a move that will see the Jets land future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with the Packers receiving draft picks and possibly a player or two.\u00a0 However, there was a noticeable difference in tone between the pair of GM&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>During his session with the media, Douglas appeared calm and cool.\u00a0 He said there was no rush or timetable to get a deal done for Rodgers.\u00a0 He seemed so confident a deal would get done, that when asked if the Jets would be pursuing Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Douglas said that doing so would be in bad faith.\u00a0 This, due to the fact that the Jets are clearly all in on Rodgers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jets GM Joe Douglas gives an update on the Aaron Rodgers trade situation and reacts to the possibility of acquiring Lamar Jackson <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HM5ahBcrrn\">https:\/\/t.co\/HM5ahBcrrn<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Mo2XC2vsRi\">pic.twitter.com\/Mo2XC2vsRi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; New York Post Sports (@nypostsports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypostsports\/status\/1640482095444140039?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 27, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, Gutekunst met with the media and sounded as if he may have been laying the groundwork for what will eventually be a less than desirable outcome for Packers fans who believe Rodgers will command the sun, moon and the stars.\u00a0 After weeks of insiders, pundits and fans insisting the price for Rodgers would be at least the Jets 13th pick in the draft, Gutekunnst threw some cold water on those hopes.\u00a0 A first rounder would not be necessary according to the GM, whose language appeared to be hoping to lay the foundation for a soft landing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Brian Gutekunst said he tried to contact Aaron Rodgers \u201cmany times\u201d this offseason to discuss how he fit in the Packers\u2019 future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur inability to reach him or for him to respond in any way \u2014 I think at that point \u2026 I had to do my job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Full comments: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/K8aGGdVhOn\">pic.twitter.com\/K8aGGdVhOn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash;
