{"id":60936,"date":"2022-10-24T13:05:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-24T17:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=60936"},"modified":"2022-10-25T01:48:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-25T05:48:50","slug":"theres-no-getting-around-it-jets-need-more-from-zach-wilson-with-or-without-healthy-supporting-cast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2022\/10\/24\/theres-no-getting-around-it-jets-need-more-from-zach-wilson-with-or-without-healthy-supporting-cast\/","title":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s no Getting Around it, Jets Need More From Zach Wilson With or Without Healthy Supporting Cast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jets Overcome Zach Wilson Struggles and Multiple Injuries for 16-9 Victory\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T-YXfMrytpQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The New York Jets escaped the Mile High City with a 16-6 victory over the Denver Broncos with a few things becoming very clear with the team sitting at 5-2.\u00a0 One is that this team is now a credible playoff contender.\u00a0 Another is that Sauce Gardner and DJ Reed might be the best cornerback tandem in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>The final, and most important thing is that quarterback Zach Wilson has simply got to be better. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pro-football-history.com\/coach\/2482\/mike-lafleur-bio\">Mike LaFleur<\/a><\/strong> is going to need his QB to perform at a higher level if the Jets are going to keep winning games.<\/p>\n<p>The second year BYU product was indeed facing one of the top defenses in the NFL with three of the most important players on offense in the trainer&#8217;s room.\u00a0 Running back Breece Hall, wide receiver Corey Davis and offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets fear a season-ending ACL injury in the case of Hall while little has come out thus far regarding Davis and Vera-Tucker.\u00a0 But either way, Wilson has got to step up.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets win yesterday marked the third consecutive game in which Wilson failed to throw a touchdown pass.\u00a0 He would go just 16-26 for 126 yards with a huge chunk of that total coming on a short pass that Michael Carter took for 37 yards.\u00a0 Wilson faced plenty of pressure on the day, but as has been the case for much of his season, when he had the time to work with, Wilson was off target or just held on to the football for too long.\u00a0 For a player who was unbelievably accurate in college, it&#8217;s been frustrating to watch him consistently misfire as a pro.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In Denver, Jets were 16-26 passing for 121 yards, with 37 yards coming on a short pass that M. Carter got a lot of RAC. The other 15 passes went for 84 yards (5.6 average).
