{"id":59169,"date":"2022-04-29T18:48:18","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T22:48:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=59169"},"modified":"2022-04-29T18:53:07","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T22:53:07","slug":"how-are-jets-looking-with-day-2-of-draft-up-next","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2022\/04\/29\/how-are-jets-looking-with-day-2-of-draft-up-next\/","title":{"rendered":"How Jets are Looking With day 2 of Draft up Next"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Give Joe Douglas some serious credit.\u00a0 He entered day one of the NFL draft with two picks in each of the first two rounds and walked away with three round 1 starters.\u00a0 Douglas dealt picks 35, 69 and 163 to the Titans for picks 26 and 111.\u00a0 By using pick 26 on edge rusher <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2022\/04\/29\/jets-trade-up-to-add-more-defense-with-fsu-edge-rusher-jermaine-johnson-at-26\/\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jermaine Johnson<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, Douglas addressed three needs having taken cornerback Sauce Gardner and wide receiver <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2022\/04\/28\/jets-go-on-the-offensive-take-osu-wide-receiver-garrett-wilson-with-10th-pick\/\"><strong>Garrett Wilson<\/strong><\/a><\/span> at 4 and 10 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>So with three day one starters added, where do the Jets stand with days 2 and 3 still to play out?<\/p>\n<p>The team should certainly be looking to add help at linebacker, running back, tight end and along the offensive line.\u00a0 Also, given the importance of each position, double-dipping at either wide receiver or edge rusher shouldn&#8217;t be ruled out.<\/p>\n<p>Which players are still around who the Jets could consider?<\/p>\n<p><strong>LB Nakobe Dean, Georgia:\u00a0<\/strong>Dean is a first-round talent who should hear his name called very early on day two unless concerns about his knee are far greater than we&#8217;re being led to believe.\u00a0 A bit on the smaller side but his instincts, motor and leadership make him well worth a high round two pick.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sometimes you need two blockers to erase one defender.  When the defender is Nakobi Dean, you might have to send three because two isn&#39;t enough.  Dean splits a pair of Kentucky blockers on the screen to get the receiver four yards behind the LOS. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UQwO5bDNWu\">pic.twitter.com\/UQwO5bDNWu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Glenn Naughton (@JNRadio_Glenn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JNRadio_Glenn\/status\/1517523305447796736?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 22, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><strong>RB Breece Hall, Iowa State: <\/strong>We mocked Hall to the Jets earlier this week and still think he&#8217;d be a great addition to a suddenly potent offense.\u00a0 His outstanding vision, agility and explosiveness would give the Jets an outstanding 1-2 punch at running back if paired with Michael Carter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LB Troy Anderson, Montana State:\u00a0<\/strong>If the Jets want a bigger and more athletic linebacker than Dean, Anderson should be in play.\u00a0 Anderson run like a running back on defense and there&#8217;s a good reason for that.\u00a0 Anderson and his 4.42 40 transitioned from running back and quarterback to linebacker.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DT Perrion Winfrey, Oklahoma: <\/strong>This won&#8217;t go over as well as a splashy offensive playmaker or do it all linebacker, but the Jets need some help on the interior and there are only a handful of players in this class who can step in and contribute right away.\u00a0 Winfrey is one of them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LB: Chad Muma, Wyoming:\u00a0<\/strong>A long, rangy &#8216;backer who was converted from safety, Muma is a big time player who covers a ton of ground and should go early on day two.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edge Arnold Ebiketie, Penn State: <\/strong>Even having just traded up to snag Jermaine Johnson, the Jets should not rule out double-dipping at edge and Ebiketie is a top end talent at edge rusher.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Jets should be taking a close look at Penn State edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie in Mobile.  Comes screaming off the edge here for the blind side hit and force fumble against Wisconsin. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/H14G80hMY0\">pic.twitter.com\/H14G80hMY0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Glenn Naughton (@JNRadio_Glenn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JNRadio_Glenn\/status\/1481474394094555141?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><strong>Edge Boye Mafe, Minnesota: <\/strong>See above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>S Jalen Pitre, Baylor:\u00a0<\/strong>Pitre may be listed as a safety, but in all reality he would give the Jets a hybrid safety\/linebacker\/slot corner.\u00a0 He&#8217;s a heady player who always seems to be in the right place at the right time.\u00a0 If not the Jets, somebody is going to get a heck of a player in Pitre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OT Bernhard Raimann, Central Michigan:\u00a0<\/strong>The Jets may have passed on an offensive tackle at the top of round one, but if they do decided to grab a future starter at some point, it could be Raimann in round two because he won&#8217;t last beyond that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edge Nick Bonitto, Oklahoma:\u00a0<\/strong>Easily the most underrated edge player in this class, Bonitto spent the 2021 season terrorizing opposing quarterbacks and could do the same as a pro.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nice to see Nick Bonitto with a strong combine.  The few games I watched he was living in opposing backfields.  Tons of action at or behind the LOS.
