{"id":54067,"date":"2021-01-21T16:03:13","date_gmt":"2021-01-21T20:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=54067"},"modified":"2021-01-21T16:03:13","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T20:03:13","slug":"saleh-confirms-jeff-ulbrich-as-defensive-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2021\/01\/21\/saleh-confirms-jeff-ulbrich-as-defensive-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"Saleh Confirms Jeff Ulbrich as Defensive Coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As new Jets head coach Robert Saleh continues to assemble his staff, fans learned today that his defensive coordinator will be former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Jeff Ulbrich.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#39;ve hired Jeff Ulbrich as our defensive coordinator. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/06la3Txo1R\">pic.twitter.com\/06la3Txo1R<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; New York Jets (@nyjets) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyjets\/status\/1352342092702502917?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 21, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Ulbrich has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, UCLA Bruins and most recently the Atlanta Falcons under Dan Quinn where he was the team&#8217;s linebackers coach before taking over as interim defensive coordinator along with wearing the title of assistant head coach.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to taking over as the Falcons coordinator, Dan Quinn&#8217;s staff was allowing 32.2 points per game.\u00a0 Under Ulbrich, the unit lowered that number to 23 points per contest.\u00a0 A remarkable turnaround for any coach no matter how much (or how little) experience under their belt.<\/p>\n<p>Before entering the coaching ranks with the Seahawks, Ulbrich spent ten seasons as a linebacker with San Francisco, appearing in 120 games (75 starts), racking up 501 tackles along with 31 tackles for loss.<\/p>\n<p>Thus far, Ulbrich&#8217;s staff will be rounded out by Nate Ollie (assistant defensive line), Ricky Manning Jr (Defensive assistant), Aaron Whitecotton (Defensive line), Chip Vaughn (Defensive assistant) and Hayes Pullard (Defensive assistant).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As new Jets head coach Robert Saleh continues to assemble his staff, fans learned today that his defensive coordinator will be former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Jeff Ulbrich.
