{"id":5330,"date":"2010-08-26T04:38:10","date_gmt":"2010-08-26T04:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=5330"},"modified":"2019-11-28T06:16:11","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T10:16:11","slug":"jets-on-hard-knocks-episode-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/08\/26\/jets-on-hard-knocks-episode-three\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets On Hard Knocks: Episode Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another week of Hard Knocks has come and gone.\u00a0 Still no sign of Darrelle Revis.\u00a0 He was mentioned briefly at the end of the show as a lead in into the <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/08\/24\/nick-mangold-gets-new-deal\/\">Nick Mangold signing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One thing stands out above all else after three episodes.\u00a0 Mike Tannenbaum is not a funny man.\u00a0 He needs to play to his strengths at stop trying to be funny.\u00a0 We won&#8217;t even recap his jokes.\u00a0 He is a brilliant GM and works a contract like no other.\u00a0 He needs to stop with the jokes though, it isn&#8217;t who he is.<\/p>\n<p>A large part of this weeks show was devoted to the Special Teams.\u00a0 Mike Westhoff can be rough and seems to be on par with Rex Ryan in the potty mouth category.\u00a0 He told David Clowney that he would cut him on the spot if he blew coverage on Special Teams.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some highlights from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/jets\/index.ssf\/2010\/08\/hard_knocks_episode_3_nick_man.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jenny Vrentas (NJ.com)<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speaking of, we&#8217;d like to have a direct feed from Ryan&#8217;s headset every  game. How does he really feel about the third-team defense? &#8220;Some of  these guys cant play dead in a B-Western.&#8221; Oh, and he <em>did<\/em> tell John Fox the game looked like a pillow fight.<\/li>\n<li>Woodhead may or may not make the roster, but he has all the respect of  his teammates, who joke that he would have been a Hall of Famer in the  1950s: &#8220;It would have been like, man, LT runs just like Danny Woodhead  used to,&#8221; fullback Jason Davis says.<\/li>\n<li>RB Chauncey Washington, he of the crushing hit on the punt return, won the game ball last Saturday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is another excellent recap from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lockerpulse.com\/News\/Knocks-reveals-Jets-internal-depth-chart-S309529\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Graham at ESPN<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Next to the team&#8217;s official depth chart, Tannenbaum scrawled out the  number of players they plan to keep at each position, with the caveat  they can adjust for special teams.<\/p>\n<p>Offense (25 players):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three quarterbacks<\/li>\n<li>Five running backs<\/li>\n<li>Five wide receivers (including <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=9611\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Santonio Holmes<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Four tight ends<\/li>\n<li>Eight offensive linemen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Defense (23 players):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Six defensive linemen<\/li>\n<li>Four outside linebackers<\/li>\n<li>Four inside linebackers<\/li>\n<li>Five cornerbacks (I think because I couldn&#8217;t make out the abbreviation)<\/li>\n<li>Four safeties (I think for the same reason)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Add a kicker, punter and long-snapper, and that&#8217;s 51 players, leaving two special-teams spots for everybody else to fight over.<\/p>\n<p>The show suggested the bubble players were running back <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=11788\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Danny Woodhead<\/a>, fullback <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=9916\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jason Davis<\/a>, receivers <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=10600\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Clowney<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=13181\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Larry Taylor<\/a>, tight end <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=11708\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Mulligan<\/a> and linebacker <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nfl\/players\/profile?playerId=10300\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lance Laury<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Coming up next week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brian Schotteneimer with his family<\/li>\n<li>Camp is over, practices at Florham Park<\/li>\n<li>HBO is praying and hoping but mostly praying for some Darrelle Revis footage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to follow <a href=\"http:\/\/fb.me\/jetsonhardknocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hard Knocks on Facebook<\/a> and you can comment on the show in the <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/\">New York Jets on Hard Knocks thread<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another week of Hard Knocks has come and gone.\u00a0 Still no sign of Darrelle Revis.\u00a0 He was mentioned briefly at the end of the show as a lead in into the Nick Mangold signing.
