In what stands to be one of their most embarrassing contests in memories recent or distant, Adam Gase and the New York Jets head to Kansas City to take on Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Le’Veon Bell and the Kansas City Chiefs.\u00a0 If we’re being honest, the key matchup in this game is the Jets versus the clock, as in wanting it to run down to 00:00 as quickly as possible as this one is sure to get out of hand.\u00a0 They other key matchups?<\/p>\n
Adam Gase vs Andy Reid:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Reid has a chance to humiliate Gase and the Jets on a couple of levels.\u00a0 First and foremost is on the scoreboard.\u00a0 The Chiefs will score as many points as Reid lets them.\u00a0 The only way this one doesn’t reach historical proportions is if Reid pulls his starters as soon as the game is out of reach which could happen before the end of the first quarter.\u00a0 On another level, there will be Reid’s use of running back Le’Veon Bell.\u00a0 Bell was on a Hall of Fame trajectory before coming to the Jets and rendered useless in Adam Gase’s offense.\u00a0 Reid, an actual offensive genius, will surely deploy Bell in a way that highlights his strengths.\u00a0 A blowout loss with a huge day from Bell could be yet another new low point for Gase in 2020.<\/p>\n RB Le’Veon Bell vs ILB Avery Williamson:<\/strong><\/p>\n This is a matchup the Chiefs will be hoping to exploits if the opportunity presents itself.\u00a0 Williamson hasn’t been the same player since returning from injury this season and hasn’t been able to do much of anything in coverage this season.\u00a0 According to Pro Football Focus, Williamson has been targeted by opposing QB’s 26 times this season, picking up a whopping 24 completions.<\/p>\n CB’s Bless Austin\/Pierre Desire vs Tyreek Hill:<\/strong><\/p>\n This should be one of many mismatches on the day as Hill’s world class speed with go head-to-head with a pair of corners who have had their share of ups and downs in 2020.\u00a0 Look for plenty of safety help over the top against Hill in Gregg Williams’ scheme, but there’s little chance of Hill being kept below 100 yards.<\/p>\n TE Travis Kelce vs S Marcus Maye\/Ashtyn Davis:<\/strong><\/p>\n One of the premier tight ends in the NFL, Kelce is likely to see his fair share of Marcus Maye today as the safety has been playing at a high level of late.\u00a0 He’ll also see a bit of rookie safety Ashtyn Davis with Bradley McDougald on injured reserve.\u00a0 Kelce is just one of many weapons at Patrick Mahomes’ disposal who could be up for a big day.<\/p>\n WR Denzel Mims vs CB Chavarius Ward:<\/strong><\/p>\n With the Jets top two receivers on the shelf with injuries, the Jets should force-feed Mims to help make up for the many missed reps this season.\u00a0 There’s no substitute for live reps in player development so the Jets should do just that with Mims in the contest.\u00a0 Unless Gase throws in the towel before the half and decides to run out the clock with Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine, he should call Mims’ number as often as possible.-<\/p>\n Prediction:<\/strong><\/p>\n Andy Reid is a decent guy.\u00a0 He’s not going to kick the Jet while they’re down and let the Chiefs put up 55+\u00a0 points.\u00a0 The Chiefs
