{"id":52501,"date":"2020-10-08T10:29:42","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T14:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=52501"},"modified":"2020-10-08T10:30:23","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T14:30:23","slug":"the-one-thing-that-might-be-holding-quinnen-williams-back-and-theres-nothing-he-can-do-about-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2020\/10\/08\/the-one-thing-that-might-be-holding-quinnen-williams-back-and-theres-nothing-he-can-do-about-it\/","title":{"rendered":"The one Thing That Might be Holding Quinnen Williams Back and There&#8217;s Nothing he can do About it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the Jets took defensive lineman Quinnen Williams with the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, there were lofty expectations from both fans and media in terms of what should be expected from the Alabama product.\u00a0 After all, the Jets passed on a couple of edge rushers to snag Williams after years of not being able to get to the quarterback.<\/p>\n<p>How has that worked out so far?\u00a0 After picking up just 2.5 sacks in 13 games as a rookie, Williams has 2 sacks in four games in year two.\u00a0 Why isn&#8217;t Williams producing more?\u00a0 The answer could be a very simple one and one that he has no control over; playing time.<\/p>\n<p>Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams rotates his defensive linemen so heavily that Williams has played 70% the Jets&#8217; defensive snaps just twice through his first 17 games as a pro.\u00a0 According to pro football focus, Williams currently ranks 28th in the NFL in total snaps among interior linemen.<\/p>\n<p>Williams&#8217; snap counts have varied heavily this year, from just 57% in week 1, to a season best 71% last week.\u00a0 Against the Colts in week 3, Williams played 58% of the snaps and spent some of those dropping back in zone coverage in passing situations against the Colts tight ends.\u00a0 That didn&#8217;t work out so well.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There is no reason why Quinnen Williams shouldn&#39;t be on the field at least 80% of the time.  However, his breakdown from weeks 1-4.<\/p>\n<p>Week 1: 57%<br \/>Week 2: 66%<br \/>Week 3: 58%<br \/>Week 4: 71%<\/p>\n<p>Gregg Williams was a nice story in 2019.  This is 2020.
