{"id":49684,"date":"2020-03-15T13:19:57","date_gmt":"2020-03-15T17:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=49684"},"modified":"2020-03-16T22:34:10","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T02:34:10","slug":"statement-by-nfl-commissioner-roger-goodell-on-the-ratification-of-the-new-collective-bargaining-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2020\/03\/15\/statement-by-nfl-commissioner-roger-goodell-on-the-ratification-of-the-new-collective-bargaining-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"New CBA Details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The players have voted to pass the new collective bargaining agreement and details are starting to roll in. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/28901832\/nfl-cba-approved-players-get-new-deal-how-expanded-playoffs-schedule-work\">Dan Graziano breaks it down on ESPN.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Highlights<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The new CBA will\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/28739375\/more-playoff-teams-expected-new-nfl-cba-sources-say\">expand the NFL&#8217;s playoff field by two teams<\/a>\u00a0starting with the 2020 season and allow owners the option to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/28764730\/sources-nfl-player-leadership-remains-divided-17-game-season\">expand the regular season from 16 games to 17 games<\/a>\u00a0as early as 2021.<\/li>\n<li>11 year deal.\u00a0 \u00a0The proposed new deal runs through 2030, which means it runs for 10 years after the current deal was set to expire.<\/li>\n<li>Owners will have a window from 2021 to 2023 to expand the regular season from 16 games to 17 games, should they choose to do so (and it&#8217;s expected they will).<\/li>\n<li>Lower earning players benefit greatly. A player with less than one year of NFL experience is set to earn $510,000 this year under the current deal.
