{"id":48148,"date":"2019-12-30T14:01:37","date_gmt":"2019-12-30T18:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=48148"},"modified":"2019-12-30T16:36:46","modified_gmt":"2019-12-30T20:36:46","slug":"gase-wont-comment-on-leveon-bells-future-has-yet-to-speak-with-enunwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2019\/12\/30\/gase-wont-comment-on-leveon-bells-future-has-yet-to-speak-with-enunwa\/","title":{"rendered":"Gase Won&#8217;t Comment on Le&#8217;Veon Bell&#8217;s Future, has yet to Speak with Enunwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Jets wrap things up at 1 Jets drive in Florham Park, head coach Adam Gase met with the media and wasted no time in distancing himself from running back Le&#8217;Veon Bell when given a softball question early on during the session.\u00a0 Asked if he would like Bell, one of the best running backs in the NFL, to return next season, Gase deferred to GM Joe Douglas.<\/p>\n<p>After saying Bell was &#8220;under contract&#8221; for the next three years, he was pressed not about the contract, but his own personal preference in having Bell back.\u00a0 Gase told the press that they could &#8220;ask Joe (Douglas) tomorrow&#8221; as Gase is not in charge of personnel.\u00a0 Now, everybody knows Gase isn&#8217;t in charge of personnel, and this wasn&#8217;t a question about what Douglas will do with Bell.\u00a0 It was a question about whether or not Gase would like to have Bell back, and refusing to answer is your answer.\u00a0 Look for the Jets to part with Bell whom Gase was unable to find a way to get more involved this season.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Jets?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Jets<\/a> HC Adam Gase on if he wants Le&#39;Veon Bell back: \u201cHe\u2019s under contract for three more years &#8230; Ask Joe Douglas. I&#39;m not in charge of personnel\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Not exactly an endorsement.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MySportsUpdate\/status\/1211673202256162816?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 30, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Of course there&#8217;s the possibility that Gase&#8217;s answer had to do with him having thin skin.\u00a0 Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News asked the question and hasn&#8217;t issued any free passes to Gase this season as other scribes have, so Gase ally Brian Costello of the New York Post had this to offer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I think Gase&#39;s short answer about Bell had more to do with who was asking the question than his feelings on Bell. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/nyj?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#nyj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrianCoz\/status\/1211673167443451906?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 30, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa also met with the media for the fist time since being placed on injured reserve.\u00a0 He told the press that he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis but would not require surgery.\u00a0 Enunwa says he has not yet spoken to Adam Gase which should come as little surprise.\u00a0 Gase does not speak to players who are on IR according to Connor Hughes, who later explained Gase doesn&#8217;t meet with injured players because he is in his office while injured players are in the training room.\u00a0 Our understanding is that the walk from Gase&#8217;s office to the training room can sometimes take up to a minute.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Enunwa later said he will not have surgery. Doctors didn\u2019t advise it if he wants to keep playing. <\/p>\n<p>He also hasn\u2019t talked to Adam Gase yet, but will later during exit meetings.
