{"id":4800,"date":"2010-08-12T04:23:56","date_gmt":"2010-08-12T04:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=4800"},"modified":"2019-11-28T06:19:33","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T10:19:33","slug":"jets-on-hard-knocks-episode-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/08\/12\/jets-on-hard-knocks-episode-one\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets On Hard Knocks: Episode One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first episode of Jets on Hard Knocks aired tonight on HBO and it lived up to the hype.\u00a0 Jets fans were excited to see what HBO would do and they did an excellent job of introducing story lines (Rex Ryan&#8217;s personality, Darrelle Revis holdout) and they jumped right into the human interest side of football.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/08\/09\/ny-jets-make-roster-moves\/\">Aaron Kia and Kevin Basped<\/a> were both released, the Basped move was tough because he was highly regarded but has an injured knee that is holding him back.<\/p>\n<p>The episode started with OTAs in the new stadium.\u00a0 They showed the pile of rubble that Jets fans affectionately call Giants stadium and they quickly cut to Cortland NY and the beginning of training camp.\u00a0 The first item on the table was new contracts for <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/07\/30\/rex-ryan-and-mike-tannenbaum-receive-contract-extensions\/\">Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Darrelle Revis may not be in camp but he dominated the first episode.\u00a0 They showed Tannenbaum watching the Revis Island Commercial, Rex Ryan telling the team that Revis is pretty #$%^ good but they will have to play without him.\u00a0 Any Jet fan watching this episode has to remind themselves that this is TV.\u00a0 Otherwise the Revis situation would leave you in tears.\u00a0 It just didn&#8217;t look like a deal was happening anytime soon.\u00a0 Some quotes from Tannenbaum were of concern.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He wants to be the highest paid player, it is really really important to this player.\u00a0 But he is under contract for three years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After a 3 hour meeting with Camp Revis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>They haven&#8217;t said one thing that I agree with at all.\u00a0 You know whats so funny we are so friggin far apart<\/p>\n<p>I feel like a failure it is six months later, we haven&#8217;t moved the needle.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve tried everything.\u00a0 God I just wish I had another card to play here. A one year deal, a four year deal a ten year deal.\u00a0 In good conscience we can move on.\u00a0 Maybe we are going to go trade for a corner.\u00a0 In good conscience why don&#8217;t we just move on and we will try again next year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The way Rex Ryan leads the Jets is no surprise at this point.\u00a0 What you get is confidence, cursing and a lot of bravado.\u00a0 He told the team they they had one goal as an organization.\u00a0 Led the league in wins.\u00a0 Offense, Defense and Special Teams should all be concerned with &#8220;Leading the league in wins&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>HBO spent some time introducing the &#8220;new guys in green&#8221;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ladainian Tomlinson<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;What I have done in the past is in the past. I am here to do all I can for this team&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jason Taylor<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;I am not here to change anything. I&#8217;m just here to win a championship&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Antonio Cromartie<\/strong> &#8211; They showed a few clips of Antonio and one thing is clear, Rex Ryan has a man-crush.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Santonio Holmes<\/strong> &#8211; After a nice grab in practice, &#8220;I had to make it look easy&#8221;.\u00a0 Tannenbaum patting himself on the back on the Holmes move.\u00a0 &#8220;Who traded for him?&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They went for the soft target (fat joke) with Rex and talked about fines, specifically a snack fine.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Sanchez talked to Schotty about goals and leadership and that talk brought in Joe Namath.\u00a0 Namath came to camp with his daughter Jessica.\u00a0 Joe should have adopted a son because Jessica doesn&#8217;t seem that interested in football.\u00a0 It rained during practice and Jessica must be made of sugar, her fear of melting was evident.
