The announcement was made by Jets&#8221; General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are appreciative of the efforts John gave to the Jets over the past six seasons and we wish him well,&#8221; Tannenbaum said. &#8220;The combination of eight picks in this year&#8221;s draft will provide us with greater options and flexibility to improve our team.&#8221; Abraham, 27, joined the Jets as a first-round draft choice in 2000 (the second of the team&#8221;s four first-rounds picks that season) out of the University of South Carolina.
