{"id":4674,"date":"2010-08-04T14:24:25","date_gmt":"2010-08-04T14:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=4674"},"modified":"2019-11-28T07:42:28","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T11:42:28","slug":"erik-ainge-enters-drug-rehabilitation-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/08\/04\/erik-ainge-enters-drug-rehabilitation-facility\/","title":{"rendered":"Erik Ainge Enters Drug Rehabilitation Facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/sports\/football\/jets\/2010\/08\/04\/2010-08-04_new_york_jets_quarterback_erik_ainge_enters_drug_treatmentrehab_facility_sources.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is reporting<\/a> that 4th year QB Erik Ainge has entered a drug rehabilitation facility.\u00a0 As we <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2010\/07\/29\/jets-make-roster-moves-ainge-mcknight\/\">reported last week<\/a>, Ainge was placed on the Reserved non-football list.\u00a0 At the time the reason was undisclosed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A team source told the Daily News that the Jets are &#8220;very  disappointed&#8221; in what appears to be a relapse for Ainge and don&#8217;t have a  timetable for his return.<\/p>\n<p>This would be Ainge&#8217;s second strike under the league&#8217;s substance  abuse policies, which means that he would be subject to an eight-game  suspension upon his return. Ainge, who hasn&#8217;t taken a regular-season  snap in his first three seasons, was suspended for four games without  pay in 2008 for violating the league&#8217;s policy on anabolic steroids and  related substances.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Putting life in perspective we hope Erik gets better and is able to recover from his addiction.\u00a0 Focusing on the less important football side of things, this is obviously going to hurt his career.\u00a0 3rd string quarterbacks don&#8217;t typically get too many chances.\u00a0 It was rumored that Ainge was the favorite to win the 3rd spot in back of Mark Sanchez and Mark Brunell.\u00a0 How this shakes out will be interesting, do the Jets keep Kellen Clemens as the 3rd QB option?\u00a0 It is now down to Kevin O\u2019Connell from San Diego State vs. Kellen Clemens.<\/p>\n<p>Our take is the Jets will keep Kellen and eventually release Ainge.\u00a0 Tell us what you think in our <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/\">NY Jets football forum<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News is reporting that 4th year QB Erik Ainge has entered a drug rehabilitation facility.\u00a0 As we reported last week, Ainge was placed on the Reserved non-football list.\u00a0 At the time the reason was undisclosed.
