Adam Gase gave some injury updates after practice on Monday. “Couple of things, Ryan Griffin wasn’t in practice today. He had an issue with his throat from the day before. He got that cleared up so he’ll be able to roll when we get back out there. Jeff Smith had a hamstring, Jeremy Clark, hamstring, Montrel Meander, hamstring and then (Jamison) Crowder had a foot.”<\/p>\n
Jamison Crowder<\/strong> is going to have an MRI, Gase wouldn’t say how severe the injury was other than to say he was still being evaluated.<\/p>\n I guess I don’t think like that. When a guy goes down, [the] next guy has to step up and just keep playing. Move some things around and call some different plays, feature other guys, that’s just part of football.<\/p>\n I think every guy that’s really involved in the offense right now, you can’t lose them all. That would be the worst case scenario. When a guy goes down, you can adjust and focus on some other things. When you start losing more than one guy, that’s when issues occur.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n One player that will get a shot while Crowder is out is Deontay Burnett. Gase was asked for his thoughts on Burnett, who looked good in limited action last season.<\/p>\n He had a really good day today. He was aggressive to the football, made some good plays. We had some situational work where we were doing move the ball, had a nice catch on a fourth down play and just seeing him develop, I know Sam (Darnold) has a good relationship with him, there’s a little bit of chemistry there so I think it’s just all about confidence, when you get in there with the ones, it’s different. Going against Brian Poole is different because he’s done it. He’s been doing it for a minute and he has some techniques that younger guys don’t, so when a young guy steps in there and has to go against him, it’s tough.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Offensive lineman Brent Qvale<\/strong> injured his knee yesterday. Gase confirmed that it isn’t a torn ACL and surgery won’t be required but it is still a significant injury.<\/p>\n It looks like he’s going to be out for a while.
