{"id":43997,"date":"2019-03-14T10:21:16","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T14:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=43997"},"modified":"2019-03-14T10:21:16","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T14:21:16","slug":"expanded-role-for-darryl-roberts-in-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2019\/03\/14\/expanded-role-for-darryl-roberts-in-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Expanded Role for Darryl Roberts in 2019?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News of the Jets retaining cornerback Darryl Roberts earlier this week came as little surprise to Jets fans as the 3-year veteran was enjoying his best season as a pro before former head coach Todd Bowles moved him over to play safety in the second half of the season.<\/p>\n<p>What may have come as a surprise were the terms of the deal as it is now being reported by Darryl Slater of NJ Advanced Media that Roberts signed a 3-year\/$21 million pact.&nbsp; It&#8217;s a pay raise that certainly means the Jets are expecting Roberts to be more than just a spot starter.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Plays like this are the reason why the Jets gave Darryl Roberts a deal that can max out at $18 million over three years per <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DarrylSlater?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DarrylSlater<\/a> .  Makes up ground Stefon Diggs breaking toward sideline, fully extends for PBU.
