{"id":43022,"date":"2019-01-09T21:40:09","date_gmt":"2019-01-10T01:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=43022"},"modified":"2019-01-09T21:40:09","modified_gmt":"2019-01-10T01:40:09","slug":"gase-pains-jets-fans-appear-livid-over-hiring-of-gase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2019\/01\/09\/gase-pains-jets-fans-appear-livid-over-hiring-of-gase\/","title":{"rendered":"Gase Pains: Jets Fans Appear Livid Over Hiring of Gase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Jets are\u00a0 set to name Adam Gase as their <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2019\/01\/09\/report-adam-gase-to-be-next-jets-head-coach\/\"><strong>new head coach<\/strong><\/a>, succeeding Todd Bowles who was let go at season&#8217;s end.\u00a0 Gase was previously running things for the Miami Dolphins where he went 23-25 in three seasons.<\/p>\n<p>News of the hiring did not go over well on social media as Jets fans lashed out at the move:<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Wow what a blown opportunity<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; RICHARD GONZALEZ (@richjets) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/richjets\/status\/1083165988353388544?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 10, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Wow, what a blown opportunity&#8221; said one member of the Jets faithful.\u00a0 Another chimed in, saying &#8220;Keep filling the stadium with opposing team&#8217;s fans&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/douggordon66\/status\/1083166391568646144<\/p>\n<p>The hire comes as a surprise not only because Gase failed in Miami, but because we&#8217;ve learned in recent days that Gase had some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesportster.com\/news\/adam-gases-final-weeks-with-dolphins-was-full-of-massive-arguments-with-owner-stephan-ross\/\"><strong>blow ups<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with team owner Stephen Ross in Miami over personnel decisions.\u00a0 Given the mild-mannered nature of Jets GM Mike Maccagnan, this is a move that could lead to internal strife.<\/p>\n<p>Even before a hire was made, Maccagnan was on thin ice.\u00a0 Bringing in a once failed head coach should mean that ice is that much thinner, and the only lifeline for Maccagnan will be immediate success for Gase which he did experience in Miami when he went 10-6 in year one.<\/p>\n<p>A similar debut season for the Jets would be a welcome development, and it might take something like that, if not more, to win over a fan base that&#8217;s none to happy about the news.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Jets are\u00a0 set to name Adam Gase as their new head coach, succeeding Todd Bowles who was let go at season&#8217;s end.\u00a0 Gase was previously running things for the Miami Dolphins where he went 23-25 in three seasons.
