On Tuesday night New York Jets wide receiver David Clowney and several of his teammates traded in their jerseys for aprons as they served fans for charity at the Applebees in East Hanover, New Jersey. The event, which was hosted by Clowney, was organized by his foundation to raise money for David\u2019s weeklong mission to Ghana, West Africa.<\/p>\n

This was one of the more enjoyable charity events that I have been to as it was very well organized with the players going out of there way to make sure everyone had a good time. The players, including the likes of Bart Scott, David Harris, Calvin Pace, and LaDainian Tomlinson, took food orders from the fans, and then went around the restaurant signing autographs and taking pictures. The evening concluded with a live auction, which included team signed footballs and helmets. All in all it was a good time had by all and a big thank you to the Jets 2010 rookie class who definitely earned their stripes bringing food out to all of the tables.<\/p>\n

Some details on David Clowney\u2019s mission to Ghana (from his website):<\/strong> David\u2019s weeklong mission will include a visit to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital\/Little Angel\u2019s Trust, where he will make a monetary donation to the hospital as well as donate medical supplies. David will also make a stop at a school in Kumasi. There he will speak to the students and make a donation to their general fund. While in the capital city of Accra, David will spend time at a local children\u2019s home where he will spend time reading to the kids and leave donated books with the facility. This trip of a lifetime will conclude with the largest \u201cAmerican\u201d football camp the country has ever seen.<\/p>\n
