Day Is Here Jets Fans

<img Rauch

Draft Day is here NY Jets fans and here are some news and notes:

1) The New York Jets introduced Jason Taylor to the media on Wednesday and the former Dolphin did his best to say all of the right things. It is no secret that Taylor wanted to return to Miami, but the Dolphins clearly wanted to go in a different direction leaving Gang Green as one of Jason’s only options. It will be interesting to see what Taylor brings to the team, if anything, but with the price tag ($3.75 million) it is worth a shot.

2) The 2010 NFL Draft begins on Thursday night at 7:30 pm with the selection of the first round. Day two of the draft will begin Friday night at 6pm where the 2nd and 3rd rounds will be chosen. On Saturday the remainder of the draft, rounds 4-7 will be chosen beginning at 10am. I understand why the NFL decided to move the draft to prime time television, but as a fan I could not be more disappointed. Draft day weekend was always a great time to meet up with fellow fans and discuss your favorite teams. This new schedule prevents those gatherings as it is difficult to make arrangements on a week night.

3) The New York Jets own the #29 pick in the first round of the draft and many are speculating the selection. Gang Green has been known to be aggressive in the first round, trading up three years in a row, but with only five picks I cannot see them doing so this year. The Jets needs heading into the draft are defensive line, safety, outside linebacker, and offensive line. With Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes only under contract for 2010, the Jets could be in the market for a wide receiver if one falls to them.

4) You know it is draft time when the NFL rumor mill is in overdrive. The Jets have been linked to several rumors, raising several questions, and they are as follows:

Will the Jets look to trade Leon Washington? And if Leon is traded, would Gang Green look to draft a running back?

With the imminent signing of a veteran quarterback, like Mark Brunell, will the Jets try and trade Kellen Clemens?

If the Jets are able to draft defensive end Jared Odrick or offensive lineman Mike Iupati in the first round, would the team really consider releasing Shaun Ellis or Alan Faneca?

There is never a dull moment with the Jets, so prepare yourself for an exciting weekend.

By Tyson Rauch Draft Day is here NY
