{"id":36803,"date":"2017-08-13T23:01:14","date_gmt":"2017-08-14T03:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=36803"},"modified":"2017-08-13T23:01:53","modified_gmt":"2017-08-14T03:01:53","slug":"game-observations-jets-top-titans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/08\/13\/game-observations-jets-top-titans\/","title":{"rendered":"Game Observations (Jets Top Titans)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even though it was only a pre-season game here are some of the things that stood out after re-watching the tape:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; OLine pass protection of the #1 and #2 units kept the pocket relatively\u00a0clean. \u00a0The run blocking was shaky though and needs to improve particularly\u00a0up the middle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Robby Anderson regularly getting open in his reps and hauling in that\u00a040+ yard bomb. \u00a0Speaking of which, credit to Josh McCown for reaching\u00a0Anderson something Ryan Fitzpatrick could never do .<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Elijah McGuire showed good wiggle and the ability to find holes. \u00a0Unfortunately both of his big runs were called back because of penalties.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Christian Hackenberg had a crisp &#8220;game manager&#8221; performance which was a good\u00a0first step. \u00a0Excellent completion percentage (72%), good accuracy and a quick\u00a0release were his big positives. \u00a0His yardage and point production would&#8217;ve been\u00a0better if not for some key drops. \u00a0He needs to improve his speed getting out of the\u00a0huddle and processing things at the line because he wasted multiple time outs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Too many key drops that killed drives which could&#8217;ve led to points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The run defense was surprisingly shaky particularly up the middle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Defensively the team speed was outstanding. \u00a0And the pressure on the QB was<br \/>\nrelentless whether it came from the pass rush or blitz packages. \u00a0Improved\u00a0play by the secondary allowed the front 7 to get &#8220;home&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Leonard Williams was &#8220;beastly&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Excellent all around games by the LB&#8217;s Julian Stanford, Josh Martin and Jordan Jenkins.\u00a0Demario Davis took his strong camp into the game and continues to look like an upgrade\u00a0over David Harris.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Other defenders with good performances were Anthony Johnson (DE), Dexter McDougle (CB)\u00a0and Doug Middleton (S).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Good tackling by the special team units and Frankie Hammond had a couple of nice returns.<\/p>\n<p>After watching what the defense did to TEN that could explain why the offense has struggled in camp with:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; WR&#8217;s getting free from press coverage<br \/>\n&#8211; OLine picking up blitz packages<br \/>\n&#8211; Coverage sacks<\/p>\n<p>Because the Titans were dominated in those areas all game.<\/p>\n<p><em>We want to hear what you think.
