Another successful week in the books for the Jets as they finish up Mini Camp<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n

Many of the young players are making strides to improve their game.\u00a0 Christian Hackenberg had his best week of practice.\u00a0 His confidence level grows every day.\u00a0 Jamal Adams continues to impress and looks the part of\u00a01st round talent.\u00a0 Adams has been locked in and is working his way to be a leader of this defense.<\/p>\n

Several coaches not normally heard from spoke to the media about certain players who they feel will bring toughness and production that has been missing for quite sometime.<\/p>\n

Quarterback Coach Jeremy Bates touched upon the\u00a0signal callers\u00a0and is happy with their progression of the play book.\u00a0 The learning curve is huge, but he sees improvement with terminology, cadence and orchestrating the huddle.\u00a0 In particular, he mentioned that all\u00a0the QB’s are hard workers who bring the right mind-set everyday with the urgency to get better each day.<\/p>\n

Coach Stump Mitchell was very vocal and determined about getting his point across with his running backs–especially the full-backs.\u00a0 Stump expects his fullback to be the best in the league.\u00a0 He stated that not only will they have\u00a0blocking protection duties but also be involved in the passing game.\u00a0 This has been something the Jets have been missing for many years now.<\/p>\n

Jimmie Johnson (tight-end coach) spoke about Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Jordan Leggett.\u00a0 At this point he is satisfied with their\u00a0development.\u00a0 Jenkins seems to have a good grasp of this system as it is similar to his\u00a0playbook from college.\u00a0 He also has\u00a0some\u00a0history with Josh McCown from his rookie season in Tampa.\u00a0 Jenkins slimmed down about 20 pounds and said he feels great.\u00a0 Hopefully, the new lifestyle and body change can improve his game overall.<\/p>\n

Jordan Leggett has shown to be a good receiving option but will need to\u00a0focus on\u00a0his mechanics\u00a0in the blocking scheme.\u00a0 Johnson feels that the way college football programs\u00a0utilize the TE hinders their game when they make the jump up to the Pros.\u00a0 Most of the time Leggett was split out or lined up in the slot position which made him more of a jumbo WR then the traditional inline tight end.\u00a0 Leggett will have to improve his footwork and ability to sustain blocks to become a fully functional piece in this offense.<\/p>\n

Coach Kevin Greene had nothing but positive things to say about “his kids.” He was referring to the young outside line backing corps.\u00a0 His focus is to improve their fundamentals, technique\u00a0and emphasis on playing with passion.<\/p>\n

“Play free and have fun!”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All of the backers have specific talents and need to hone their craft as edge rushers.\u00a0 Greene has a true understanding about the position having done it himself.\u00a0 His player\/coach experience mixed with his intensity should bode well as a mentor and motivator\u00a0for the Jets defense.<\/p>\n

The Jets seem like a\u00a0changed team with a new mind-set for the upcoming season.\u00a0 There is positivity in the air despite the repetitive negativity\u00a0coming from particular media outlets.\u00a0 The Jets success will depend upon this coaching staffs ability to develop this young team,\u00a0which has been going through a\u00a0monumental transition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
