{"id":36280,"date":"2017-06-09T10:08:10","date_gmt":"2017-06-09T14:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=36280"},"modified":"2017-06-09T10:08:10","modified_gmt":"2017-06-09T14:08:10","slug":"jet-nation-radio-cuts-and-farewell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/06\/09\/jet-nation-radio-cuts-and-farewell\/","title":{"rendered":"Jet Nation Radio: Cuts and Farewell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On this week&#8217;s episode of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/06\/07\/ny-jets-podcast-crazy-week-in-jetnation\/\">Jet Nation Radio<\/a><\/strong>, Joe and\u00a0Glenn elaborated on the breaking news that some veterans were being let go.\u00a0\u00a0This created a major\u00a0uproar with the fan base. \u00a0While many knew the rebuild was in full effect, others were left\u00a0confused by the timing of these decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The first\u00a0cut was 10-year veteran <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/06\/06\/report-jets-to-release-david-harris\/\">David Harris<\/a><\/strong>, a 2nd round selection from 2007.\u00a0 Harris\u00a0has been a solid leader from day one and is arguably the Jets&#8217; best linebacker in over a decade.\u00a0 According to Todd Bowles, the team offered him a pay cut, but they could not come to terms.\u00a0 Most fans were shocked by the move, but others see this as another step in the rebuilding process.\u00a0 The Jets have an abundance of youth and want to get the young guys as many reps as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets also traded away <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/06\/01\/calvin-pryor-traded-demario-davis-returns\/\">Calvin Pryor<\/a><\/strong> for Demario Davis from Cleveland.\u00a0 The team seems to be content with Davis and Darron\u00a0Lee as the duo at middle linebacker.\u00a0 \u00a0Both players will have big shoes to fill as Harris has been the definition\u00a0of a role model and leader.<\/p>\n<p>There are reports that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/06\/06\/report-jets-done-with-decker\/\">Eric Decker&#8217;s day are numbered<\/a><\/strong> as well.\u00a0 Decker will be shopped around the league for a possible trade or be released.\u00a0 This seems like\u00a0an illogical\u00a0move by the organization.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why tell the league that Decker will be cut if they do not find a trade partner?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many general managers who have Decker on\u00a0their radar will simply wait for him to be cut and then make their move.<\/p>\n<p>As for the Jets they must\u00a0have based this decision on\u00a0Decker&#8217;s medical situation being too risky and the price to keep him is not worth it.\u00a0 This was the last year of his contract, so the Jets must feel that he is not in the plans for the future, so why keep him!<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the rebuild situation, this move makes sense.\u00a0 Every snap Decker would get takes away from the development needed for the young wide receivers.\u00a0 Quincy Enunwa looks to be the #1 and the rest of the depth chart is up for grabs.\u00a0 This\u00a0might put too much pressure on the inexperienced receivers, but this organization believes in competition.<\/p>\n<p>This training camp will be extremely crucial for this team&#8217;s progression.\u00a0 It is undetermined at this point on who will emerge as the next leader on defense and who will be the next rising star from the young yet talented receivers?<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to check out Jet Nation Radio each week to stay up to date on the latest news; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/category\/jetnation-radio-2\/#sthash.Gqo3uiBG.dpbs\">NY Jets Podcast<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On this week&#8217;s episode of Jet Nation Radio, Joe and\u00a0Glenn elaborated on the breaking news that some veterans were being let go.\u00a0\u00a0This created a major\u00a0uproar with the fan base. \u00a0While many knew the rebuild was in full effect, others were left\u00a0confused by the timing of these decisions.
