On the most recent episode of Jet Nation Radio<\/a><\/strong>, Joe and Glenn spoke at length about OTA’s, the roster depth chart, and hot topics\u00a0burning up the wire.\u00a0\u00a0Joe thinks this team could be in for another tough season, so fans should\u00a0temper expectations and be ready for a rough year.\u00a0 Glenn believes the defensive line can bounce back and get to their old form. If so, we can be\u00a0a successful unit once again.<\/span><\/p>\n

A lot has happened this past week during OTA’s.\u00a0 There were mixed reviews about Christian Hackenberg.\u00a0 Calvin Pryor was missing in action and Sheldon Richardson is still a little salty about the 2016 locker room.\u00a0 Matt Forte had some interesting comments about the new system and the coordinator from last season.\u00a0 There was also some nice\u00a0words spoken about new offensive coach John Morton.<\/span><\/p>\n

Player Notes<\/span><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

Christian Hackenberg had some positive feedback and received some negativity from a particular scout.\u00a0 It seems to early to determine where his progression is at this point.\u00a0 He is still indulging the new system but he said he feels more confident after having a year to watch and learn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Calvin Pryor was not in attendance for the beginning\u00a0but the OTA’s have always been voluntary.\u00a0 Coach Bowles was not worried about it and said Pryor\u00a0will be here when the time comes. He eventually showed on Tuesday and worked with the 3rd string unit.\u00a0 Coach Bowles explained they are moving guys around so everyone gets reps and learns working together in different groups.\u00a0 Each day they will switch up the lineup a little bit \u00a0so everyone gets adjusted quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheldon Richardson threw some\u00a0shade toward Brandon Marshall, claiming he had 15 reasons why the locker room is better.\u00a0 Coach Bowles\u00a0smartly refused to comment about Richardson’s\u00a0statements. \u00a0Many\u00a0<\/span>fans feel that Richardson should be focusing on the upcoming season rather than dragging the\u00a0painful\u00a0past back into the media. \u00a0They hope for less drama in the locker room.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Also, Matt Forte\u00a0had mentioned that he was confused by Chan Gailey’s running scheme and how he and others were utilized. \u00a0Forte is looking forward to the new scheme and getting back to what he knows best, being a dominant player.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defensive Coach Kacy Rogers spoke\u00a0very highly about\u00a0Leonard Williams.\u00a0Rogers is impressed with his development, and the steps he is taking to be more of a vocal leader.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jamal Adam’s said the defensive playbook is much bigger than his college one.\u00a0 His biggest challenge is learning the terminology and playing at the NFL tempo.\u00a0 He’s enjoying the process, listening to the Vet’s and learning from everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Johnny Mo brings the juice,” \u00a0Eric Allen, Jet’s field reporter<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here are a few quotes from the players about John Morton and the new offense<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Wesley Johnson<\/strong><\/span>: ” Brought a lot of energy, laser focus, pedal is down and were moving fast in the new west-coast offense”<\/span><\/p>\n

Brian Winters<\/strong><\/span>: “It’s a learning process, working together as a team. Learning the new terminology.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Eric Decker<\/strong><\/span>: “Expectations are high…he’s the guy to push us to the next level.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Josh McCown<\/strong><\/span>: \u00a0“Very excited for the new offense…We’re in this together and\u00a0learning it together.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Bryce Petty<\/strong> <\/span>: “This offense is electric!”<\/span><\/p>\n

Petty is enjoying working with coach Bates, and he likes the way Bates\u00a0is teaching the new playbook with the entire QB group.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt Forte<\/strong><\/span>: He loves the new offense.\u00a0 “Johnny Mo is an intelligent coach.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Forte likes the west-coast scheme because it involves a running back who\u00a0has to catch the ball.\u00a0 This is something Forte has excelled at through his career.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robby Anderson<\/strong><\/span>: He’s extremely excited for the “pass happy” offense.\u00a0 He feels it fits his skill set very much.\u00a0 Anderson has been concentrating on keeping his body in tune and focusing on his health.\u00a0\u00a0He stated this was something he learned from Brandon Marshall.<\/span><\/p>\n
