Could stay on diff deal<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JasonLaCanfora\/status\/830091718875836416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 10, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Far from the player he once was as a 3-time All-Pro in Denver, Clady has battled serious injuries over the course of the past four years, forcing him to miss 37 games in that time. \u00a0Prior to the 2013 season, durability wasn&#8217;t an issue as Clady started 80 consecutive contests. Despite the injuries in recent years, Clady still has some value to the Jets.<\/p>\n<p>With no other established veteran left tackles on the roster, a team-friendly re-negotiation is a prudent move by GM Mike Maccagnan who will probably still draft a left tackle to step in for\u00a0Clady when his deal expires, or in the likely event he misses time due to injury.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_35396\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35396\" class=\"wp-image-35396 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127-300x243.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127-600x486.jpg 600w, https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127-768x622.jpg 768w, https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127-1024x830.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_4127.jpg 1991w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-35396\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ben Ijalana took over for the inured Clady over the season&#8217;s second half.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As preposterous as it may seem to entertain the notion of bringing back a player who has spent as much time on the shelf as Clady, just imagine how bad it would look should\u00a0Gang Green find themselves getting even semi-quality quarterback play from either of their two young signal callers (Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty) or a potential draft pick\/free agent addition if they&#8217;re injured or unable to continue to grow due to regular breakdowns in pass protection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2017\/01\/27\/jets-working-to-retain-clady\/#sthash.e8q9RZyi.dpbs\"><strong>Clady&#8217;s possible return<\/strong><\/a> was a topic discussed at length by Jets fans <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/topic\/131107-jets-working-to-retain-clady\/#comment-3307433\">right here<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>on our forums and many\u00a0seem to get it, as does Maccagnan.
