Great to have football back!\u00a0It was only the first pre-season game but let’s take a look\u00a0at what happened:<\/p>\n
– Very clean game with only two penalties and no turnovers.<\/p>\n
– Good to see the rookies (Jordan Jenkins, Darron Lee, Jalin Marshall, Doug Middleton,\u00a0Juston Burris & Charone Peake) take their camp performances into a game.<\/p>\n
– Last year when the #1’s went out you saw a noticeable dip in performance. \u00a0Good to see that\u00a0wasn’t the case this year.<\/p>\n
– JAC has a lot of “name” talent, will be a sexy pick to make the playoffs and people\u00a0will love them in fantasy football. \u00a0But there’s something about Bradley as a HC that\u00a0I just don’t like. \u00a0He’s never won more than five games and 15 penalties in your first\u00a0game is not a good start to the season.<\/p>\n
– Good debut for Brant Boyer’s units all around. \u00a0Solid coverage, immediate tackles and good\u00a0blocking on the returns. \u00a0I guess the “trash can” drills worked.<\/p>\n
– Lachlan Edwards consistently “flipped” the field with his punts. \u00a0And it was good to\u00a0see him in an end of game situation where he had to get a good punt off to pin the offense\u00a0back.<\/p>\n
– Bye Ross Martin, it was nice having you in camp. \u00a0You can’t shank a 39 yarder and come\u00a0up 5 yards short on a 54 yarder.<\/p>\n
– Big returns from Jeremy Ross and Marshall, haven’t seen that since the Leon Washington days.<\/p>\n
– Sloppy tackling that prevented big losses and led to big JAC gains.<\/p>\n
– Leaky run defense.<\/p>\n
– Nice to see the increase in our front seven speed on display. \u00a0Multiple times DL & LB were in\u00a0JAC backfield ready to make plays (even though some of them whiffed).<\/p>\n
– JAC marched up & down the field but it was good to see the defense get stingy in the red zone.<\/p>\n
– Good job Shelby Harris (2 sacks). \u00a0Can you continue that performance?<\/p>\n
– After years of watching Demario Davis, Calvin Pace and Quinton Coples “plod” around as LB’s, what a\u00a0pleasure to see Darron Lee & Bruce Carter fly around. \u00a0Multiple TFL’s and good coverage from both of\u00a0them and a near INT from Carter.<\/p>\n
– Run blocking wasn’t powerful and needs work but the pass blocking was solid. \u00a0Ben Ijalana was totally\u00a0anonymous at the RT spot (which is what you want). \u00a0Can he unseat Giacomini?<\/p>\n
– Crazy WR depth with guys like Enunwa, Marshall, Ross, Peake & Robby Anderson flashing. \u00a0Remember when\u00a0our big WR’s were Holmes, Hill, Kerley & Nelson?<\/p>\n
– Those passes to Enunwa have to get you excited. \u00a0Because twice we were in a 5 wide formation and Enunwa\u00a0was 1 on 1 against an LB and destroyed him. \u00a0If he can get more consistent with his hands we can get big\u00a0gains from him.<\/p>\n
– Surprised Smith started out so shaky (inaccurate passes, short hopping Marshall) with all the off-season\u00a0reps he got. \u00a0He got better towards the end of his night with that nice TD to Peake.<\/p>\n
– Petty showed a nice command of the offense and moved the ball nicely. \u00a0It would be nice to have him and Smith play well and force a tough decision at the end of camp.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
