{"id":3307,"date":"2009-11-29T17:27:09","date_gmt":"2009-11-29T21:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=3307"},"modified":"2009-11-29T17:27:09","modified_gmt":"2009-11-29T21:27:09","slug":"ny-jets-top-carolina-panthers-17-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2009\/11\/29\/ny-jets-top-carolina-panthers-17-6\/","title":{"rendered":"NY Jets Top Carolina Panthers; 17 &#8211; 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"NY Jets Logo\" src=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/graphics\/Articles\/headers\/nyj.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"103\" height=\"61\" \/>By Phil Sullivan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The New York Jets received exactly what they needed today as Jake Delhomme and the Carolina Panthers came to town.\u00a0 The NY Jets were victorious by a score of 17 to 6 and improved to 5 and 6 on the season.\u00a0 The loss dropped the Panthers to 4 and 7.<\/p>\n<p>How did the Jets play?\u00a0 Well enough to win.<\/p>\n<p>After a rough stretch in recent weeks, the Jets defense stepped up and completely shut down the Panthers offense.\u00a0 Jake Delhomme only completed 14 passes and threw 34 times for 126 yards.\u00a0 He constantly had a NY Jets defender in his face and threw 4 interceptions.<\/p>\n<p>Kerry Rhodes responded to his benching with his biggest game of the year.\u00a0 Eric Smith played well at safety, leading the team with 8 solo tackles.\u00a0 Smith played physical and had several big hits which is what Rex Ryan wants to see.\u00a0 Rhodes, who played on passing downs, had two interceptions.\u00a0 Darrelle Revis had the other two interceptions along with a touchdown.\u00a0 Revis is continuing his assault on # 1 wide receivers this season.\u00a0 Steve Smith was thrown to 5 times and ended the day with 1 reception for 5 yards.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets offense had 39 total carries for 139 yards (3.6 yard average).\u00a0 They played with a lead all game and Mark Sanchez was 13\/17 for 154 yards.\u00a0 He did throw another interception, a badly thrown pass which was intended for Braylon Edwards.\u00a0 Overall, Sanchez did a much better job today.\u00a0 He did tweak his knee on a short run, so that is worth watching since the Jets have a short week.\u00a0 Next up is the Toronto (Buffalo) Bills on Thursday 12\/03.<\/p>\n<p>Turnovers are still an area of concern, today Shonne Greene and Dustin Keller both fumbled in the red zone.\u00a0 That is an area the Jets must improve upon.\u00a0 Check back for the JetNation.com Report Card and stop <a href=\"http:\/\/JetNation.com\/forums\">by our forums<\/a> for all the latest Jets news.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Phil Sullivan The New York Jets received exactly what they needed today as Jake Delhomme and the Carolina Panthers came to town.\u00a0 The NY Jets were victorious by a score of 17 to 6 and improved to 5 and 6 on the season.\u00a0 The loss dropped the Panthers to 4 and 7.
