KRL Camp Notes – Day Two Friday 07\/29\/16<\/h3>\n

General Notes – Posted by KRL<\/strong><\/h3>\n

– Players in shorts & shells. \u00a0This weekend the pads go on.<\/p>\n

– Practice ran 2.5 hours.<\/p>\n

– The media really thinned out today after everyone got their Fitzpatrick story.<\/p>\n

– The same players were out Forte, Wilkerson, Carpenter, Devin Smith, Khiry Robinson and\u00a0Giacomini. \u00a0Also I never saw Sheldon Richardson today.<\/p>\n

– Brant Boyer (STC) had three stations set up today to practice different aspects of\u00a0blocking punts. \u00a0Also to work on kick off return blocking assignments he used trash\u00a0cans again to simulate tacklers.<\/p>\n

– They started to emphasize running plays today which was surprising without pads on.<\/p>\n

– Was very interesting to hear Karl Dorrell (WR coach) instruct the young WR’s through\u00a0various routes (stutter go, drags) and being precise in getting proper depth.<\/p>\n

Player Notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

– Jordan Jenkins (OLB) is starting to “stack” practices together. \u00a0He had another good one\u00a0today with his highlight being a “scoop & score” of a Fitzpatrick fumble during 11 on 11.<\/p>\n

– Juston Burris (CB) also is starting to “stack” practices together. \u00a0Very good coverage\u00a0again and his highlights were a red zone break up of a pass to Brandon Marshall and a near INT of Hackenberg during 7 on 7’s. \u00a0He just couldn’t come up with it as he dove.<\/p>\n

– Jalin Marshall (WR) also is “stacking” practices together. \u00a0Again he has that “Chrebet\u00a0vibe” where he seems to be always open.<\/p>\n

– Leonard Williams had a very “loud” practice with multiple “tackles for loss” during\u00a011 on 11.<\/p>\n

– Bilal Powell stood out showing the quickness we saw at the end of last year and making\u00a0one handed catches on screen passes. \u00a0With Forte out and an emphasis on the running game\u00a0Dominique Williams and Romar Morris got extra reps. \u00a0They both flashed with their quickness\u00a0and Morris broke off a 40+ yard TD run in 11 on 11. \u00a0Let’s see if they can keep it up when\u00a0the pads go on.<\/p>\n

– Darron Lee showed off his speed today particularly when the defense went to their\u00a0inside blitz packages.<\/p>\n

– Steve McLendon disrupted the middle of the running game with a couple of TFL’s.<\/p>\n

– Buster Skrine had a sweet leaping INT of Fitzpatrick during 7 on 7’s.<\/p>\n

– Robby Anderson (WR) who I mentioned yesterday has a way to go in his route running.\u00a0Dorrell had him doing extra reps on the things he didn’t like.<\/p>\n

QB’s<\/strong><\/h3>\n

– Good day for Fitzpatrick as the rust starts to come off. \u00a0Very good in the intermediate\u00a0area and he was particularly sharp throwing the “back shoulder” to Brandon Marshall\u00a0and Kenbrell Thompkins. \u00a0He also threw a TD to Thompkins in an end of game situation.<\/p>\n

– Smith was solid again his highlights were a 50+ yard TD to Thompkins during 7 on 7’s.\u00a0And a 40+ yard completion to Kyle Williams during 11 on 11.<\/p>\n

– Petty had a very nondescript day, no big plays no major mistakes.<\/p>\n

– Hackenberg’s best play was a “near catch” by Charone Peake on a 50+ yard bomb which\u00a0he dropped. \u00a0For some reason the ball comes out of his hand with a wobble on some of\u00a0his throws. \u00a0Hopefully that will be corrected.<\/p>\n
