Those two players ate his lunch and exposed some flaws that will continue to get exposed at the next level. Shell\u2019s hands widen too often in pass protection and defenders routinely get the first punch. He\u2019s also far too quick to open his hips and let pass rushers get the edge on him. The good news is outside of those two games he was one of the cleanest pass protectors in the country.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/draftwire.usatoday.com\/2016\/04\/05\/2016-nfl-draft-scouting-report-south-carolina-ol-brandon-shell\/\">USA Today<\/a> grades Shell as an early 5th round prospect, and speculates that he may transition to guard in the NFL.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drafttek.com\/2016-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings\/Top-College-Right-Offensive-Tackles-2016-Draft.asp\">Draftek.com<\/a> ranked Shell as the 9th best RT prospect, ahead of fan favorite Jason Spriggs.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/college-football\/story\/south-carolina-football-pharoh-cooper-brandon-shell-2016-draft-011416\">FoxSports<\/a> cites Mel Kiper as saying Shell could go as high as the second or third round.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfldraftblitz.com\/2016-class-ot-rankings-1229\/\">NFL Draft Blitz<\/a> ranked Shell as the 7th best OT prospect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Jets have drafted yet another player that seems to be versatile. \u00a0Shell seems to be more natural at the right tackle position, but there is enough speculation that he can slide over to guard if need be. \u00a0Shell also had a SPARQ score of <a href=\"https:\/\/3sigmaathlete.com\/rankings\/ol\/\">78.3<\/a>, which placed him 20th overall on the offensive line. \u00a0The Jets needed help on the offensive line, and they seemed to have picked a guy that can slide in at guard or right tackle, but might need some time to learn the ropes. \u00a0His high SPARQ score indicate elite potential based on physical ability, but it might take time to manifest.<\/p>\n<p>Please follow the discussion on Brandon Shell, and all other prospects on our message board. <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/forum\/5-new-york-jets-message-board\/\">\u00a0Click Here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Jets traded a 2017 4th round pick to the Washington Redskins, for the 158th pick in this year&#8217;s draft for Brandon Shell.
