{"id":32131,"date":"2016-04-02T11:04:54","date_gmt":"2016-04-02T15:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=32131"},"modified":"2016-04-02T12:42:33","modified_gmt":"2016-04-02T16:42:33","slug":"report-jets-expected-to-sign-lb-bruce-carter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2016\/04\/02\/report-jets-expected-to-sign-lb-bruce-carter\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets to Sign LB Bruce Carter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Glenn Naughton<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After hosting veteran linebacker Bruce Carter last week, it appears a deal may be imminent between the Jets and the former second-round draft pick.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Barring any unforeseen circumstances, former <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bucs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bucs<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cowboys?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Cowboys<\/a> LB Bruce Carter is expected to sign with the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Jets?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Jets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; JennaLaineESPN (@JennaLaineESPN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JennaLaineESPN\/status\/716263517633048576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 2, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Jenna Laine of Sports Talk 1040 in Tampa is reporting that Carter is expected to sign with Gang Green &#8220;barring any unforeseen circumstances&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Carter could be more than just a depth signing if given the opportunity to compete with Erin Henderson for the starting job alongside David Harris in the middle of the Jets defense.<\/p>\n<p>After being chosen in the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Carter appeared in 10 games as a rookie, but was called on to start 24 contests over the course of the following two seasons, racking up 178 tackles, 3 sacks and 5 interceptions. \u00a0The five interceptions were all during the 2014 season.<\/p>\n<p>After signing with the Bucs as a free agent after the 2014 season, Carter started just three games before losing his spot to rookie linebacker Kwon Alexander.<\/p>\n<p>If he does come on board, don&#8217;t be surprised if he ends up stealing reps from Erin Henderson, the same way Henderson did to last season&#8217;s starter Demario Davis as the season progressed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE: \u00a0<\/strong>The Jets and Carter have reportedly <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2016\/04\/02\/jets-sign-bruce-carter\/\">come to terms<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on a one-year contract. \u00a0Financials are unknown at this time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Glenn Naughton &nbsp; After hosting veteran linebacker Bruce Carter last week, it appears a deal may be imminent between the Jets and the former second-round draft pick.
