Since the Jets played last Thursday, Friday was the ideal time to repair the torn ligament in his none throwing hand. That gives him 10 days to rest before the next game. Head coach Todd Bowles said that he expects Ryan Fitzpatrick to be back with the team on Wednesday and he expects him to start on Sunday. Bowles is hopeful that Fitzpatrick can practice on Wednesday and he confirmed that there were no complications with the surgery.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bowles: Fitzpatrick not at practice today, resting from surgery, which went fine. We\u2019ll see if can take the snaps under center and see how he feels on Wednesday. After the medication wears off and everything, we\u2019ll go from there.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if he expects Fitzpatrick to be able to practice on Wednesday even if it\u2019s on a limited basis\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nWe\u2019ll see. I\u2019m hopeful that he will be. He had the day off, he\u2019ll be off tomorrow, so we\u2019ll see on Wednesday how he feels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if there will be any contingency plans at quarterback in case Fitzpatrick cannot play\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nNo, Geno (Smith) is our backup quarterback. He\u2019ll take the reps and Bryce (Petty) will take some reps.\u00a0 So, if he can\u2019t play, the next man will be up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On how far into the week he would go with Fitzpatrick not practicing before he would choose to start Smith\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nProbably after Friday\u2019s practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if Fitzpatrick could play Sunday if he doesn\u2019t practice at all this week\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nIf he doesn\u2019t practice all week, he\u2019s not playing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if he could play Sunday if he only practices Friday\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019ll see how he looks. That\u2019ll be a decision we have to make after practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On how confident he is that Fitzpatrick will play\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019m not sure. I have to see how he heals and how he takes snaps. It would be unfair for me to say he\u2019s going to be fine. I\u2019m not a doctor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if he is still under the impression that Fitzpatrick should be able to play\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nThat\u2019s what they conveyed to me. We have to see about his pain level.
