The Jets open the regular season in just under two weeks. The final preseason game is on Thursday against the Eagles, but the starters don’t normally play in the last preseason game. Todd Bowles was asked about that today.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m leaning towards some, just because we\u2019re down quite a few people. We\u2019re going to see who\u2019s the healthiest and try to at least have them available if something happens to some of the guys out on the field.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
So where do the Jets stand injury wise? Todd Bowles gave some updates to the media on Monday.<\/p>\n
On who did not participate in practice today\u2026<\/strong>
\nI held Brandon (Marshall) out, (Eric) Decker didn\u2019t practice, Willie (Colon) didn\u2019t practice, (Calvin) Pace didn\u2019t practice, (James) Carpenter didn\u2019t practice. Obviously, Leonard (Williams) didn\u2019t practice, (Lorenzo) Mauldin, the same guys that hadn\u2019t practiced last week didn\u2019t practice. (Durrell) Eskridge did practice, everybody else practiced today.<\/p>\nOn if those were rest days for the veterans\u2026<\/strong>
\nJust sore days, they could play if they had to play. But, we have an extra week, so I\u2019m just keeping most of them out. Decker had a personal issue that I allowed him to go deal with, so he wasn\u2019t here.<\/p>\nOn if Carpenter has an injury\u2026<\/strong>
\nJust a sore back, he\u2019s fine. <\/em>No sense in having him practice, so we gave him a rest day.<\/p>\nOn how relieved he was regarding Williams\u2019 injury and if he believes he will be able to play in Week One\u2026<\/strong>
\nI was relieved to have it and I\u2019m hopeful for Week One. He says he\u2019s starting to feel better by the day. When I see him running, I\u2019ll feel a lot better, but right now he\u2019s walking pretty good and he\u2019s in good spirits, so I\u2019m hopeful.<\/p>\nOn if he has any better idea on Mauldin and Jace Amaro as well as other injured players for Week One\u2026<\/strong>
\nNot yet. I mean, they\u2019re jogging, they\u2019re not running yet, according to the pain tolerance I guess. We\u2019ll see as we go forward next week.<\/p>\nOn Jeremy Kerley\u2026<\/strong>
\nI just talked to him after practice. He\u2019s feeling better but he hasn\u2019t done anything, so I don\u2019t know what that means. He\u2019s feeling better, he doesn\u2019t have a headache anymore, but he still has to pass some tests.<\/p>\nOn if Geno Smith practiced much today\u2026<\/strong>
\nHe threw the ball some. He took some center snaps but nothing full speed or anything particular that he hasn\u2019t been doing.<\/p>\nOn if he\u2019s seen any progress from Devin Smith\u2026<\/strong>
\nHe\u2019s jogging around. He\u2019s not full speed. I haven\u2019t seen any progress.<\/p>\nOn if Stevan Ridley could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list\u2026<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s possible. It takes as long as it\u2019d take to heal. You want to be better safe than sorry. There\u2019s no need to rush him back. When he gets better in the process, then we\u2019ll make that decision as we go. We have some quality running backs right now and they\u2019re all playing good, so Ridley can take his time and get healthy. Whether we take him off PUP or whether he starts on PUP, he\u2019s still going to need some time in pads. He\u2019s just not going to come in and you say \u201cBam, put him out there.\u201d He\u2019s still going to need some time.<\/p>\nOn if Milliner could start the year on short-term IR\u2026<\/strong>
