{"id":28401,"date":"2015-05-01T14:12:14","date_gmt":"2015-05-01T18:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=28401"},"modified":"2015-05-02T20:23:09","modified_gmt":"2015-05-03T00:23:09","slug":"report-jets-seeking-multiple-first-rounders-in-wilkerson-deal-new-york-jets-muhammad-wilkerson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2015\/05\/01\/report-jets-seeking-multiple-first-rounders-in-wilkerson-deal-new-york-jets-muhammad-wilkerson\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Jets Seeking Multiple First Rounders for Wilkerson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Glenn Naughton<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jason LaCanfora is reporting that the New York Jets will seek <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasysp.com\/player\/nfl\/Muhammad_Wilkerson\/3987260\/cbs-sports-jason-la-canfora-reports-the-jets-want-quotmultiple\">multiple first round picks<\/a><\/strong> in any deal for star defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.<\/p>\n<p>In the early stages of a contract dispute, Wilkerson <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2015\/04\/06\/wilkerson-absent-from-jets-workouts-new-york-jets-muhammad-wilkerson-mike-maccagnan\/\">opted to sit out<\/a><\/strong> the team&#8217;s recent voluntary workouts as he prepares to enter his fifth season.<\/p>\n<p>After <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2015\/04\/30\/jets-stick-with-draft-board-select-leonard-williams\/\">selecting Leonard Williams<\/a><\/strong> with the sixth overall selection in the NFL draft, speculation regarding Wilkerson&#8217;s future surfaced immediately.<\/p>\n<p>General Manager Mike Maccagnan was asked about Wilkerson&#8217;s future but would only say that the team is not shopping the Temple product whom the Jets took in round one of the 2011 draft with the 30th pick. \u00a0He did not, nor should he, dismiss the possibility of fielding offers.<\/p>\n<p>Wilkerson is arguably the Jets&#8217; best all-around player and is easily in their top three. \u00a0The always classy Wilkerson <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/jets\/index.ssf\/2015\/05\/muhammad_wilkerson_reacts_on_instagram_to_jets_dra.html\">offered congratulations<\/a><\/strong> to Williams \u00a0via instagram following the selection.<\/p>\n<p>If multiple first-rounders is indeed the price tag for Wilkerson and the Jets don&#8217;t move from that, Jets fans should be encouraged.<\/p>\n<p>Gang Green clearly realizes how important Wilkerson is to the team and will likely re-enter contract negotiations if unable to move him\u00a0for multiple firsts.<\/p>\n<p>If they are able to get what they&#8217;re asking, then it would be a difficult move to criticize\u00a0as the Jets would be dealing from a position of strength to add the possibility of adding multiple first rounders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Glenn Naughton &nbsp; Jason LaCanfora is reporting that the New York Jets will seek multiple first round picks in any deal for star defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.
