{"id":26987,"date":"2014-11-09T21:20:23","date_gmt":"2014-11-10T01:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=26987"},"modified":"2022-04-01T03:22:31","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T07:22:31","slug":"new-york-jets-pittsburgh-steelers-post-game-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2014\/11\/09\/new-york-jets-pittsburgh-steelers-post-game-notes\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets  Steelers Post Game Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Courtesy NY Jets PR Department<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Captains:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#15 <strong>Saalim Hakim<\/strong>, #37 <strong>Jaiquawn Jarrett<\/strong>, #38 <strong>John Conner<\/strong>, #66 <strong>Willie Colon<\/strong> and #71 <strong>Ben Ijalana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Offense:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Jets 17-0 lead in the first quarter ties a franchise record for the team\u2019s largest lead in the first quarter.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It has happened five other times, with the last being in 2008 against the St. Louis Rams.\u00a0 The Jets ran for 150 yards on 36 carries (4.2 avg.), the fourth highest total of the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defense:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Jets four takeaways are the most in a game since they also registered four (two fumbles and two interceptions) vs. IND (10\/14\/12). The Jets defense allowed only 36 rushing yards on 17 attempts (2.1 avg.), the lowest since OAK recorded 25 yards on 15 carries (1.7 avg.).\u00a0 The defense held PIT to no red zone touchdowns, forcing a turnover and two field goal attempts, one of which missed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jaiquawn Jarrett:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starting in his first game this year, CB <strong>Jaiquawn Jarrett <\/strong>recorded his first full sack of the season when he dropped Ben Roethlisberger for a 10-yard loss. He later recovered a fumble after DL<strong> Muhammad Wilkerson <\/strong>knocked the ball loose from Antonio Brown. Jarrett recorded the first interception of his career when a Roethlisberger pass was tipped into the air. The interception was the first turnover the Jets have forced in the red zone this season.\u00a0 In the third quarter, Jarrett recorded his second interception of the game and his first career multi-interception game.\u00a0 Jarrett\u2019s two interceptions marked the first time a Jets defender has recorded multiple interceptions in a game since Dee Milliner did it in the finale at MIA (12\/29\/13).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Vick:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Vick <\/strong>threw for two touchdowns including a 67-yard strike to WR <strong>T.J. Graham <\/strong>for the team\u2019s\u00a0 longest touchdown pass of the season. His 18-yard run in the third quarter enabled him to become the first quarterback in NFL history to reach 6,000 career rushing yards.\u00a0 Vick finished the game 10 of 18 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns for a 116.0 passer rating.\u00a0 In each of his first two starts Vick has recorded a 100+ passer rating.\u00a0 He became only the third quarterback in Jets history to record a 100+ passer rating in their first two starts, joining Chad Pennington (2002) and Boomer Esiason (1993).<\/p>\n<p><strong>T.J. Graham:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the first play of the Jets second drive, <strong>Vick <\/strong>threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to <strong>Graham<\/strong> for his first touchdown of the season, and his longest career touchdown grab. The play was the first time the Jets had a one-play drive resulting in a touchdown pass since 2010, when Mark Sanchez threw a game-winning 37-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes. \u00a0Graham later recovered a muffed punt in the second quarter to get the ball back for the Jets, the third takeaway on the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jace Amaro:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TE <strong>Jace Amaro <\/strong>caught a five-yard touchdown pass from <strong>Vick <\/strong>for his second career touchdown.\u00a0 With that touchdown, Amaro now leads all rookie tight ends in touchdowns as well as receptions (34).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leger Douzable:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DL <strong>Leger Douzable <\/strong>recorded his second sack of the season when he took down Ben Roethlisberger for a seven-yard loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Muhammad Wilkerson:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DL <strong>Muhammad Wilkerson <\/strong>was able to force the ball out of the hands of Antonio Brown for the team\u2019s first turnover of that game. It marked Wilkerson\u2019s first forced fumble of the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Quigley:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>P Ryan Quigley had a career long 69-yard punt, the longest by a Jet since Robert Malone booted an 84-yarder vs. TB (09\/08\/13).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Field Goal Defense<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the fourth quarter, Steelers K Shaun Suisham missed a 23-yard field goal, the shortest missed field goal in the NFL this season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy NY Jets PR Department Captains: #15 Saalim Hakim, #37 Jaiquawn Jarrett, #38 John Conner, #66 Willie Colon and #71 Ben Ijalana.
