{"id":25752,"date":"2014-08-04T01:40:38","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T05:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=25752"},"modified":"2022-04-01T03:42:31","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T07:42:31","slug":"jets-sign-michael-smith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2014\/08\/04\/jets-sign-michael-smith\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets Sign Michael Smith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday the Jets signed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/jets\/index.ssf\/2014\/08\/jets_sign_running_back_michael_smith_per_report.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">running back Michael Smith<\/a> and released safety Brandon Hardin.\u00a0 Smith adds more depth to an already crowded backfield as camp continues up in Cortland.\u00a0 Smith was a seventh-round pick of Tampa Bay out of Utah State in 2012. \u00a0The 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back was utilized for his speed on Special Teams.\u00a0 He had three kickoff returns for the Buccaneers as a rookie, but didn&#8217;t play in a game last season. \u00a0He was released in May.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Jets are currently dealing with some injuries at the running back position.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #363636;\">Their top two backs, Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson, seem to be doing fine. But Bilal Powell has missed four straight practices with a hamstring injury. Alex Green, who is probably the fifth running back on the Jets\u2019 depth chart, has been dealing with a chest injury.
