{"id":257,"date":"2005-11-10T07:12:46","date_gmt":"2005-11-10T12:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=257"},"modified":"2019-12-02T02:36:27","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T06:36:27","slug":"mid-season-awards-afc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2005\/11\/10\/mid-season-awards-afc\/","title":{"rendered":"Mid-Season Awards &#8211; AFC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/graphics\/Articles\/trophy\/trophy.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p><strong>By Frank Barone<br \/>\nJetnation Columnist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AFC Coach of the Year &#8211; Tie<\/strong><br \/>\nTony Dungy and Marvin Lewis<\/p>\n<p>The <em><strong>Colts<\/strong><\/em> are the best team in the AFC right now, and they have finally shown improvement on defense, positioning themselves capable of winning it all.    <em><strong>Lewis<\/strong><\/em> has changed the mentality with the Bengals, who lead their division and are expecting to win, instead of hoping to win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AFC &#8211; MVP<\/strong><br \/>\nEdgerrin James \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Colts<br \/>\nJames has returned from his career threatening injury and leads the league in rushing yardage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Offensive Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nLaDainian Tomlinson \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Chargers<br \/>\nTomlinson is the best back in the league can do everything well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defensive Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nDwight Freeney \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Colts<br \/>\nFreeney is a playmaker who makes the entire Colts defense better.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comeback Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nMike Anderson \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Broncos<br \/>\nAnderson is another player coming off injuries.  The combination of him and Tatum Bell are a great one-two punch for the Broncos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Breakout Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nCarson Palmer &#8211; Bengals<br \/>\nLast year was Palmer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s introduction as a starter and now he is acting like a seasoned veteran.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Surprise Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nWillie Parker \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Steelers<br \/>\nParker has come from out of nowhere to be the feature back for the Steelers.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Bust of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nJamal Lewis \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Ravens<br \/>\nLewis\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s problems off the field have followed him on the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rookie Offensive Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nRonnie Brown \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Dolphins<br \/>\nBrown has given the Dolphins a running threat again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rookie Defensive Player of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nOdell Thurman &#8211; LB &#8211; Bengals<br \/>\nThurman gives the Bengals the physical presence they have lacked at linebacker.<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned for the NFC Awards coming later this week.
