Welcome him to the Green &amp; White! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NFLDraft?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NFLDraft<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/i9KwUj2udw\">pic.twitter.com\/i9KwUj2udw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; New York Jets (@nyjets) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyjets\/status\/464953256129466368?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 10, 2014<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>This pick is interesting, most draft experts initially had him listed as a <a href=\"http:\/\/newyork.cbslocal.com\/2014\/05\/09\/jets-find-huge-pass-catching-option-select-tight-end-jace-amaro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">late round pick<\/a> because he missed almost his entire senior year.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>McDougle, from Falmouth, Virginia, wasn\u2019t highly touted entering the draft after missing the final nine games last season with an injured shoulder. But his 4.4 speed made him an active playmaker when healthy at Maryland, where he had three interceptions last season, including one for a touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>The 5-foot-10 McDougle spent the rest of the season attending every practice and meeting despite the injury, prompting coach Randy Edsall to create and honor him with the Dexter McDougle Ultimate Team Player Award.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>McDougle was at the combine but didn&#8217;t work out, he only spoke with scouts. \u00a0He did turn heads at his pro-day and John Idzik obviously was impressed. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/articles.baltimoresun.com\/2014-04-08\/sports\/bal-dexter-mcdougle-maryland-pro-day-20140408_1_maryland-coach-randy-edsall-shoulder-injury-scouts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Baltimore Sun<\/a> provides additional details:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #292727;\">McDougle missed the last nine games of his senior year with a shoulder injury that occurred at the end of the best game he had ever played at Maryland. He had two interceptions, including one returned 49 yards for a touchdown in a Sept. 21 win at Connecticut.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #292727;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been looking forward to this day, I finally get to show them [the scouts] that I\u2019m finally moving again, show them a little of what I can do at my position, to show them I haven\u2019t lost a step,\u201d said McDougle, who went to the NFL combine in Indianapolis to talk with teams but did not work out. \u201cToday was definitely a big day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #292727;\">Considered\u00a0the most promising NFL prospect among those who worked out Tuesday &#8212; he was\u00a0the only member of a small Maryland senior class to have been\u00a0invited to Indianapolis &#8212; McDougle definitely showed that he hasn\u2019t lost any speed. He said he was timed between a 4.43 and a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #292727;\">\u201cThat\u2019s a good time.
