{"id":24927,"date":"2014-05-06T12:28:16","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T16:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=24927"},"modified":"2022-04-01T03:51:19","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T07:51:19","slug":"quigley-gives-jersey-money-to-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2014\/05\/06\/quigley-gives-jersey-money-to-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Quigley Gives Jersey Money To Charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we mentioned the other day, the question over what number Michael Vick will wear on his jersey finally seems to be answered. \u00a0Vick originally indicated he would wear # 8, then he announced <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2014\/05\/02\/michael-vick-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he was switching to #1<\/a>. \u00a0What is all the fuss over a jersey number you ask? \u00a0Well there is a good story behind Ryan Quigley&#8217;s decision to let Vick have # 1.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Quigley was offered $10,000 to sell his number to Michael Vick. \u00a0Instead Quigley sent the money to charity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/blogs\/nfl-shutdown-corner\/jets-punter-sells-michael-vick-jersey-no--1-for--10-000-to-a-good-cause-024642423.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kristian Dyer has the story on Yahoo Sports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"yui_3_14_0_1_1399392798608_1265\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Vick had worn No. 7 at previous stops with the Falcons and Eagles but current Jets quarterback Geno Smith wears No. 7, and Vick tentatively chose No. 8 last week. Last Friday, Vick approached Quigley for a second time about the possibility of getting the No. 1 jersey. While the punter briefly thought about how $10,000 could benefit his life, especially since he will have to vacate the Pantale household in a few days when his teammate&#8217;s sister returns from college, his thoughts quickly turned toward doing something for others.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_14_0_1_1399392798608_1267\" style=\"color: #000000;\">So Quigley said he wanted the money, but for charity. A native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., he asked if Vick would donate to Teen Angel of North Myrtle Beach, a charity that supports homeless teenagers, and to the Boys and Girls Club of New York. He didn&#8217;t want to see a penny, didn&#8217;t want a dinner as part of the deal.
