{"id":21034,"date":"2013-07-28T18:47:44","date_gmt":"2013-07-28T22:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=21034"},"modified":"2013-08-01T00:29:43","modified_gmt":"2013-08-01T04:29:43","slug":"jets-camp-notes-0728","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/07\/28\/jets-camp-notes-0728\/","title":{"rendered":"Jets Camp Notes \u2013 07\/28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Jets took the field today in full pads for the first time and it was later than originally scheduled.\u00a0 The 10am session was postponed and later rescheduled due to lightning nearby.\u00a0 So they resumed practice at 3:30pm and here is a brief recap of the action.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Quarterback<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is so hard to get a feel for what is truly going on with the QB battle since it is so early in camp.\u00a0 Many seem to be rooting for Geno Smith, while others are rooting for Mark Sanchez.\u00a0 By all accounts the offense does look better early in camp, so that is encouraging.\u00a0 It is best to reserve judgement until we can see them in actual games.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Final QB stats today. Mark Sanchez highlight: Sharp deep out to Ryan Spadola. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/nyj?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#nyj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Manish Mehta (@MMehtaSports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MMehtaSports\/status\/361606002002501634?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 28, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The main stream media has been asked to not tweet about the formations the Jets are running in practice.\u00a0 This request was apparently made by the stellar PR department of the NY Jets.\u00a0 So a few media members have made it clear that the Jets have run the wildcat and that Geno Smith was running the read option today.\u00a0 Geno did start with the 1st team today as part of the QB rotation.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Running Back<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Chris Ivory is still limited and the Jets are being cautious with him.\u00a0 Mike Goodson is not yet in camp and Joe McKnight has had a strange start.\u00a0 Today he was suffering from migraines and this comes after he failed the conditioning test on Thursday due to cramping up.\u00a0 Here is some more information on <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/topic\/111348-joe-mcknights-excuse-du-jour-hes-too-much-in-shape\/\">Joe McKnight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That leaves plenty of opportunity for the younger backs in camp, Chadd Spann and John Griffin.\u00a0 There are many first-hand accounts saying that they have looked good so far, but again it is too early to judge.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Wide Receivers and Tight Ends<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Rex Ryan mentioned that some veterans would be placed on a pitch count, to limit their work load.\u00a0 This was the case today with Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Winslow, Edwards not practicing.
