The New York Jets rookie minicamp is underway in Florham Park NJ.\u00a0 The quarterback always gets the spotlight and all eyes were on Geno Smith.\u00a0 Geno was asked what it would take to learn the West Coast offense.\u00a0 He told the media…<\/p>\n

As we all know the West Coast system is one of the toughest ones to learn, but I don\u2019t think it was too foreign to me. First of all, I studied my butt off just to be prepared for today and there\u2019s more work that goes into being ready for tomorrow. Overall, it\u2019s going to be a transition and that\u2019s expected, but I\u2019m going to work at it and try my best to put my best foot forward.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At West Virginia Smith took extensive snaps out of the shotgun.\u00a0 He will be under the center in the NFL and after practice he was asked if that was the most that had happened…<\/p>\n

Probably yes, probably more than recently, but it felt like a natural change. Obviously, there are some things that I need clean up and I\u2019m going to work hard with Coach Lee and Coach Mornhinweg. It didn\u2019t feel too odd to me, so I think I did a pretty good job.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There were reports that Geno Smith held a meeting in the hotel with the rookie offensive lineman.\u00a0 Rex Ryan was very happy to hear about this…<\/p>\n

Yeah, I think that\u2019s great. It\u2019s interesting, because I thought it was unusual the way he did command the huddle. That was pretty impressive. And the fact that he\u2019s already telling the guys (instructions), that\u2019s pretty sharp.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
