Heard that is indeed the case. Not yet sure when. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Redskins?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Redskins<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; John Keim (@john_keim) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/john_keim\/status\/316869793791766528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 27, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The Jets did tender restricted free agent tight end <a title=\"Jets Tender RFA TE Cumberland &amp; RT Howard, Restricted Free Agents Explained\" href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/03\/11\/jets-tender-te-cumberland-restricted-free-agents-explained\/\">Jeff Cumberland<\/a> but after losing Dustin Keller in free agency they are in the market to bolster the position.<\/p>\n<p>Davis played seven games last year having 24 receptions for 325 yards before suffering a season ending <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/story\/0ap1000000082654\/article\/fred-davis-out-for-season-with-torn-achilles-tendon\">Achilles tendon injury<\/a> and was having a career year in 2011 with 59 receptions for 796 yards and 3 touchdowns but was <a href=\"http:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2011\/12\/04\/fred-davis-trent-williams-leave-without-speaking-to-media\/\">suspended<\/a> for the last four games due to a performance enhancing drug suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Even with these issues there is a market for Davis\u2019 services including division rival Buffalo and his former team the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.realredskins.com\/rich-tandlers-real-redsk\/2013\/03\/need-to-know-is-the-market-for-davis-drying-up.html\"> Redskins<\/a> have been mentioned as interested in a Davis return.\u00a0 While Davis would be a quality addition at a position of need the Jets financial constraints may put him out of their price range.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets are also in the market for a <a title=\"Free Agent To Watch: Safety Quintin Mikell\" href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/03\/26\/free-agent-to-watch-safety-quintin-mikell\/\">veteran safety <\/a>as for now they have second-year players Antonio Allen and Josh Bush along with third year disappointment former Philadelphia Eagle second round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett currently on the roster.<\/p>\n<p>Former Jacksonville Jaguar and Baltimore Ravens safety <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/player\/dawanlandry\/2506937\/profile\">Dawan Landry<\/a>, brother of LaRon Landry who played for the Jets in 2012 but was lost in free agency, is scheduled for a visit on Wednesday March 27<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Landry had 100 tackles, 2 pass defenses and 1 interception for the Jaguars last season and played under Jets head coach Rex Ryan (2006-08) when he was defensive coordinator for the Ravens.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets continue their slow, stay and diligent approach to free agency looking for those who could provide quality leadership on and off the field at the right price.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Jets are scheduling a couple of free agent visits: Former Washington Redskin\u2019s tight end Fred Davis is planning on visiting the Jets in the near future: TE Fred Davis told Pro Football Central he will be visiting the Jets.
